Man, thats like proof and everything. It's a sign.

Her's some more, clearly you can see in the vid there is no drum kit so actually, it's like, god is playing it for him.

Totally supernatural.

Although I thought more about it myself and thought I shouldn't knock it unless I've tried it so i am going to write a tune using some "worship loops"

These are the topcis I've chosen:

Slavery:

"When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property."
Exodus 21:20-21

Homophobia:

"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives."
Leviticus 20:13

Has anyone got any cool loops i can use to really bring these themes out in my tracks?
You can't leave behind the parts about women being impure, filthy cesspools and their imperative silence, subservience, obedience, etc. That would make a good b-side.

OH! And all the stuff about it being sinful for any races besides Israelites to reproduce. Top 40 indeed.

You've hit a vein with the slavery part. I wish I could remember more of what I've read, but I forced it promptly out of my memory and pretended it never existed.

Macs and PCs were never used as justification for centuries of bloodshed and social inequity, so shove that argument please.

It's a question of belnding the themes though. While i worship I like to think the message needs to be clear. i can only deal with one kind of repression at a time.

man, it's stressful.

Fortunately the question of who is god has been answered as he can clearly be seen here:

Hey, looks as though there's more evidence for FSM than for the other guy.

Ok, I should stop myself before I come off as too bitter and anti-Christian. I'll continue coming off as bitter and anti-Christian later this afternoon. I think it being 10am means the party's over and I should sleep.

I guess, it seems he could lay down a beat if he wanted to.

People judge him by Bean, but IMO he is a very funny guy.

More relevant perhaps?:

UKRuss wrote:"We're different to you. In fact we're different to you in a superior way, so much so that we have our own uber music with uber loops that can only apply to worship music, with (and I quote from the title) "church settings".

Why should he not make reference to his faith though in his search for worship music loops? I don't know, perhaps the OP can clarify exactly what it is that differentiates worship loops from any other loops. I imagine there is something fundamental (sic) about it.

I, however, like most people have been exposed to churches at some stage in my life, even singing in a choir as a boy and I never, never once felt there was anything in my experience that made the music different to other music, other than the lyrics...

No.

For me, the OP knew damn well what he was doing when he posted.
And again, its the context in which it is used. A Church setting is the context. Christians know there is no holy reverb or panning settings.

Religious convictions aside, there are people who use computers and software as a part of their Master of Ceremony responsibilities. There are crowds of people (can change demographically) who have certain expectations in the types of musical rhythms, structures, instruments, volume etc that are used to enhance certain atmospheres which have intentional emotional objectives. If the objective is a quiet and contemplative atmosphere, then Industrial Techno loops might not be the ticket. The words Industrial Techno will bring to mind a certain type of musical flavor, rhythm and approach. Nobody gets upset at this 'Label' being used to pigeon hole this type/genre of music. The OP happens to be involved with music used in church worship settings. It has a 'label' based on its particular use.

Of course there is no 'Christian Kick drum' vs 'Secular Kick Drum'. No 'Worship Loop' or 'Non Worship' loop. In many cultures you have JP's (Justice of the Peace), people who provide leadership in times of Weddings and funerals for the non religious. This person is often asked to co-ordinate the ceremonies attached to these events. These often include music. The JP may play the guitar and be able to 'lead' either the mourners or the weddings guests in appropriate singing to express their feelings. A good JP/MC who is sensitive to the context will choose to use music which fits the event. You could go as far as labeling that music either 'Wedding Music' or 'Funeral Music'. We know what those titles mean. The music has certain flavors, and tend to be used in certain contexts. So a bunch of christians use music (and technology) in a certain context to obtain a certain result. Does it have to be pointed out that it is the same intention of many people on this forum, regardless of their religious and cultural backgrounds. Context.

I have to point out that your experiences as a child may have contributed to coloring the lens you look through as an adult. This is true for all adults. Pre conceived childlike convictions become automatic responses, often preventing adults from progressing in many areas of thought or emotion. A common one is "My parents always fought as a child about their marriage. Marriage must be bad. Therefore I will never get married." There are many people who have childhood Church experiences that prevent them from progressing further in their overall learning because they cast a big blanket over the subject and refuse to look under it anymore. Then on top of that they let everybody know that they have it all sorted out.

How many 'Secular' artists spent their formative musical years in the church band, week in and week out, learning their chops, riffs etc and the contextual applications of improvisation, teamwork, rhythm, expression, sound, harmony etc. Nobody gives a flying fuck that it was 'Worship Music' that was foundational in their musical development.

interweb, meh.
yeah but you of all people can't talk!!
no, no 'lol', no 'wink' there pal, screw you. lol wink

of course I've discussed religion and have thrown around all the typical atheist rhetoric, in threads where it's called for.

I'm saying that the OP wants to talk church music, that does not mean it's a thread to shit on their religion, that's a stupid leap in logic. again, it's like posting "buy a mac" in every PC thread that pops up, retarded, rude and immature.

you have to view this forum as like a big pub where everyone can hear what everyone else is saying and the responses back that up really - IMO there's little harm in the responses - most of the people posting have been posting here a long time and know each other well by interweb standards
'no harm'? even in a pub it's rude to disrespect someone's beliefs for no reason. are you really that lacking in social graces? I doubt they're really offended but it's bullshit they can't have a simple discussion without simpletons making the leap to shit on a side topic that people are religious to begin with.

I'm not really sure what there is specific about "worship music" that's different to just "music" but if the OP feels there is something then fair enough,
fair enough?? then stfu!! you'll never know what's different about it because you're cock blocking them from talking about it.

but I think by 2009 most people posting on an anonymous internet forum know the stakes
lame. only because people like you are setting the bar so low.

let a little variety into the forum, stfu, stop being rude and let people discuss the topic. I get where you're coming from, it's hard to feel bad for the dominant oppressive religion, the interweb is a bastion of sanity from said oppression and the freedom of speech. I'm just saying that you're rude. there's freedom of speech, then there's the censorship by screaming louder than the other guy. grow up.

meh, it just gets me when he uses my past behavior as an excuse for his current rude behavior. I kinda feel bad for going off on ol' forge, he means no harm. I guess by his own standards I shouldn't, it's the interweb forum pub, but wait, that's me using his behavior to justify my own. :?:

interwebs is confusing.

d0uchey (not forge) appears in 3... 2...
