[new video tutorials] - Sampling and Slicing in Live

Hey everyone,

I'm happy to announce the release of my second tutorial video series, "Sampling and Slicing with Ableton Live." This series was spawned as a response to the numerous requests I received to do tutorials for people who are new to Live and specifically want to create sample-based music. Generally speaking, the series goes through everything from getting audio into Live through the external instrument device to some more intermediate-advanced techniques for chopping, layering, and tweaking your sounds. I spent a lot of time sorting between fluff and actual substantive information, adding only the stuff that would contribute to a solid, core workflow that the producer can then go on and personalize for him/herself. As I said before, this series was created for all newcomers to Live, including those who are either new to producing with samples in general or who are transitioning their workflow from another piece of software or hardware such as the MPC-series or MV-series of Sampling workstations.

The 2 hour "Sampling and Slicing" series is available for $25 right now. Further, I am offering a special package-deal containing both my Ableton Live Sound Design series (normally $37) and the Sampling and Slicing series together for $49.99. This package of tutorials covers a great deal of material that will get someone up to speed and using Ableton Live at a very respectable level of mastery in very little time, covering both the basics of important Ableton Live tools as well as advanced techniques for creating your own drums, pads, textures, etc. You'll also save yourself $12 if you were interested in getting both packages anyway. its lookin good man i checked out your demo clip and all i gotta say is thank you for not using any god forsaken house beats to teach sampling and slicing on, you've set yourself apart from all the others with that alone.

i'd love to see a return break after "Hello, and welcome!" so people know this is... welll the welcome page. easier to read.

Anyways, great job. Nick Maxwell is a way more bad-ass name than nick the zombie too. sweet.

Agreed about Covert Operators, I recommend their site and products every time I get the opportunity. Same with Puremagnetik and a handful of other companies who are doing really interesting stuff.

I don't get the rest of your post, though. I've never talked to you on a forum or in real life and you're dubbing me a prick-by-association? I don't know what your problem is with Mr. Mowgli, but that's between you two. His company was kind enough to commission me to do some tutorials for their site, and that opportunity has been a nice addition to what I do in my home business.

While we appreciate the compliments. There is no need to trash talk on our behalf. We're pretty well capable of doing that ourselves.

Everybody has his own style of doing video tutorials, so even if you watch 2 tutorials about the same topic, you're likely to take away a different lesson from either video.
That is the genius of Live. Nobody uses it in the same way. So its very unlikely that you'll find 2 people teaching it in the same way.

One of the reasons that people like us make videos is that even after using Live for years, your mind can still be blown by knowing a little trick or shortcut. I think I can speak for all "all-knowing" tutorial creators when I say that you can never know it all.
However simple Live may appear, its just always a little more complex than you thought.

My thumbs up to anybody who cares to explain what every parameter on the freaking Note Length plugin does

UPDATE: Thanks to an observant customer I realized that the encoding toward the streaming version of Video 9 was messed up for some reason. It has been re-encoded and uploaded now.
