canceling a clip change before the new clip starts

Post by ande1718 » Tue Jan 06, 2009 4:01 am

Hey I looked for a while to find this topic but no luck, I assume its a simple fix.

Basically sometimes I screw up and hit the next clip or row at the wrong time and would like to be able to cancel the change in the 1 or 2 bars before it kicks in.

Thanks

Either hit the current clip's start button to relaunch it instead of the one you just accidentally launched, or if there's no clip playing in the track in question, just hit the track stop button before the clip launches.

Thanks for your response Olly, actually this first thing won't quite work for me since most of the time the mistake I've made is at a random time, so if I restart the current clip set then that is happening in the middle of the clip, like measue 7 or something and it still sounds like a hickup in the rhythm or the form. Sometimes is would work though, so I'll keep it in mind

I guess if there is no clip about to happen on the track then I wouldn't need to cancel, but I'm not sure if thats what you mean. I generally am changing to a new row so if I try to save things by switching to an empty row before the wrong row starts then the song stops, anyway, if you could please clarify.

thanks again,
Andrew

you need to change the Global Quantization rate first in order to choose the rate at which clips start and stop

as well as the option of changing the Quantization rate of all clips individually

Global, None, 8bars, 4 bars, 2bars, 1bars, 1/2bars, 1/4bars, 1/8bars, 1/16bars, etc etc etc.....

*on your keyboard. press:
Cmnd+0
then the stop button of your clip.
then change back to your desired Quantization rate

or you could just mute the track

or turn it down..
