I'm an angry, angst ridden rebel without a cause. And a rebel without a brain  I'm a secret emo fan and a closet cutter.

Seriously - do you know about Waves Upgrade Policy (WUP). How crappy a system i-lok is. How massively OVERPRICED Waves plugins and bundles are, and how much better stuff exists out there that is better value. Also - their dirty underhand policies - I don't use cracks and think people who do are playing with fire and if you do the crime do the time etc, but I still think it's very dirty business to send undercover agents out taking pictures of people running cracked copies of waves and then sending legal documents asking them to pay 75,000 dollars or go to court to be sued for even more.

Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if Waves was using this freebie as a way to build a database of user, who they later come after with audits on machines to make sure they have no cracks or what not. I wouldn't put it past those Mossad mother fuckers.

Lol. I wish my lawn was emo then it would cut itself.

No. I should stay away eh?

OK. So not a bang for buck choice?

Mmmmm, obviously I will stumble across some story soon regarding the Waves Police.

Thanks.

Feel is not that great, sound is ok. Amplitube 2 / JH is the best software I've played, haven't played Revalver III

For modeling the Axe-FX kicks the crap out of everything else but it's hardware and $$$

It's probably part of the world-wide surveillance grid....turns on your webcam and lets Waves and Bush watch you while you work.

It only supports Live 7, not Live 6.

Below is the GTR Solo 1-year serial number you requested :)

Post by The Philosopher King » Tue Jan 13, 2009 8:01 pm

Just got mine and it did wht I was trying to do with another bunch of Plugins, straight off the Preset Rack. Fookin great!

No iLok. iLok doesn't work anyway. Take a look a Warez et all. People who are hacking seem to have less problems than people who are buying the stuff off the shelves. I've got a feckin IK USB key permanenty having sex with one of my USB Ports. Sorry . . . getting a bit of topic there :)

What I really wanted to say was . . .

Dear Valued Waves User,

Below is the GTR Solo 1-year serial number you requested:

Fookin great in my opinion. No iLok. No problem! Fookin, fookin marvelous!

meh.

Have you tried Guitar Rig or Amplitube ?

Anyway, I mostly just mic up my guitar amp and run the FX through my Vox Tonelab SE, which beats all of them ;) When the neighbours are on vacation and the missus lets me anyway

as you said before - it's totally subjective - depends on what you're playing with it too

I've tried both of those and been using the GR demo waiting until I could afford to buy it, but after getting this one I found it provided a kind of warmth I felt the others were missing - I just like the sound more

but I also wouldn't put it past Waves to use it to sue people either

Gtr Solo mappable?

Post by timseley » Wed Feb 04, 2009 7:26 pm

Anyone figure out a way to make Gtr solo controllable by midi controller?
I like to make music and give it away at http://www.newmusicmonday.com and twitter @timseley

Tried out the Solo....

It's pretty good, but I prefer the following:

Studio Devil (free, or $65 for full license) + poor plate reverb (free) + Tal Dub, Chorus, Flanger (Free)

All on Mac, 10.4.11

thanks for that - just downloaded - have to say its good! Actually I could be quite happy just with the free BVC one - it happens to give a sound I tend go for often anyway!

I like it. The presets are awful, but some tinkering yields good results.
