Live running under Codeweaver's WINE emulation?

Post by tomlaw » Sat Dec 07, 2002 5:25 pm

Has anyone had any success in running Live in Linux, using WINE emulation? I actually got it to install completely, using Crossover office, but when I then try to run Live, it only momentarily adds a tab for Live on the taskbar, which immediately disappears.
But I'm new to WINE, so maybe I'll figure it out... (I'm running Xandros 1.0 on a Toshiba 1805-S204 laptop).

I tried this on and off for a few weeks with the wine that comes with suse, and I didn't get it to work. I thought about giving WineX a try, but I had more problems with that than was worth my time. Also, I've had problems with other software that implimented midi. It's also important to note that you won't have ASIO drivers with wine, so expect some latency.

I've also had apps that support midi completely fail with WINE, I'm not quite sure if anything's implimented yet in that arena.

If you get it working, I'd be interested in what you did to get it working, and your performance with it. If it's decent, I'd MUCH rather run Live with a linux setup than with a windows one.
