Change the snap value in Clip view?

Post by Tortoise » Thu Jan 15, 2009 1:41 am

Hello,

Does any of you know if there some way to change the snap value in the Clip View from something different than 16/1?

I find it a bit to narrow when i'm working in the clip view with longer recordings.

Try right-clicking in the grid to change the snap. There are also keyboard short-cuts to narrow/widen...

No, i'm specifically talking about the snap value in the Clip - Sample Display/Note Editor. Which seems to be only 2 ways: 1/16 or OFF.
I find this too narrow.

Anyone knows?

Hmmm... I'm not sure I follow you. In the Clip view Midi Note editor, notes will snap to whatever your grid resolution is. Changing the grid, changes the snap. You are talking about the Clip view Midi Note editor window, yeah?

I mean the audio clip box, not the midi note box. (you see the value in the far right corner at the bottom, when you double click on an audio clip).

In the Midi Note box, i know it's possible to change the grid, but this doesn't seem to work on the Audio files. With audio clips the grid is just fixed to 16/1 notes. And i don't find a way to change it to something less narrow. It's hard to quickly draw a 4 bar loop (for instance) because the values are to narrow.

Ah, ok, understood. Yeah, I see what you mean and I don't know of any way to change the snap when moving the loop-brace for example. But to always move in whole bar increments instead I use the Loop Length field in the Clip Sample box, selecting the left-hand field and dragging the mouse up and down to quickly just keep it in whole bar increments.

Nice to hear it helped :)

One other nice tip, in case you don't know it already, is CMD + up/down arrows which doubles/halves the loop brace length.

Have fun...!

Awesome! Yes, this really helps up the speed on setting the loop.
