BCR Performer 1.6
Without wanting to hijack the thread, does anyone here know how to have the buttons on the BCR2000 continue to stay lit after they have launched a clip? (when not using BCR Performer)
When I assign the buttons to clip launch, they light up only as far as the first loop of the clip, then turn off, but leaving the clip running.
I can assign the clip's follow mode to itself which relaunches the clip, but this is a bit of a hack.
Does anybody have an idea for a more elegant solution?
Cheers,
bagginz

In order for the button to stay lit, Live needs to send the value of 127 to the BCR which it doesn't seem to do with clips.
Clips can send out note velocity info every time the loop comes around, but in order for that to show up on the BCR, the maximum value of the button should be the maximum value you get when the loop comes around. Which would be a velocity of 126 or 1 if I'm not mistaken.
On a side note, I've started a closed beta of the rewrite of BCR Performer 1.5.
Anyone who feels adventurous enough to participate, send me a PM along with your email address.

The rewrite turns out to be pretty stable.
Here's a quick change log:
- Buttons and knobs are all immediately updated on the GUI to indicate their states. This means you have 32 new potential toggle buttons when using the buttons of the top encoder group (and its 4 presets).
- This version comes with only 2 presets for the BCR. One preset is just a blank template. Meaning all knobs and buttons are assigned to a different CC on the same channel and there are no controls to switch presets on the application.
This is in case you wish to manually program whatever button/knob to select presets.
The second preset for the BCR allows you to switch presets in the application by using button 49 and 50. (the 2 buttons below the preset buttons on the BCR)
Programming the BCR to contain these presets is as simple as selecting the BCR input and pressing a button.
- Global controls can be manually added. CC 112-127 are reserved for global controls.
This version will go up after some testing and once I finished the documentation and video. But if you're already a user of this application and want to try the rewrite, you can download the files here: http://www.covops.org/uploads/BCRPerformer1.5Beta3.zip

If you use multiple BCR presets, only the chosen one will receive updates from Live or Reason.
My application stores and recalls the data for 16 presets, which is 15 more than the BCR provides.

There are no bugs as far as I can tell. There are some glitches in the GUI if you perform with Auto-refresh on. But you only need that feature when you load a new Live set or alter stuff in Live with a mouse.
Once the application collected the values, it doesn't need updates from Live anymore.

What do you mean with "the chosen one"?hoffman2k wrote:Only on 1 BCR Preset.phobik2000 wrote:Doesn't BCR update leds on it own? Well, it does in Reason, but there are no presets, it's all some auto-mapped thing, that update with each Reason device. Shouldn't Live do the same?

I use the BCR as a performance controller in Reason it seems to program it and then when I choose any device it auto-updates for the default implemented controls. But I don't have any more presets to choose from. I think I can use it without being automapped but I haven't tried it yet, don't know if it will still update then.
If preset 1 on the BCR is selected and you change something with the mouse that is mapped to preset 2 on the BCR. Those updates will not be reflected when you change presets on the BCR.phobik2000 wrote:What do you mean with "the chosen one"?hoffman2k wrote:Only on 1 BCR Preset.phobik2000 wrote:Doesn't BCR update leds on it own? @hoffman2k
i think he is using the "control surface" mode in reason, which is
similar to mackie emulation mode. with other words he can't choose/use
different presets on his bcr...
anyway, looking forward to test your application tonight. since i am
using my bcr as a drumcomputer (in combination with rack-ed step sequencers in live), the big problem is exactly that preset limitation.
just wondering about one thing:
the way i have it set up now, is 8 presets on the bcr with 8 diff. midi channels. every drumsound has its 16 steps with every step knob assigned
to the appropriate bcr knob + midi channel.
will your app let me choose virtual presets with different midi channels
without changing preset on the bcr? that would be awesome, since i could
set up the whole drumcomputer thing within one preset.
