just found out about it on the web,i was like YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!finally a good ableton controller, and you can bet your ass you don't have to wait a year (like the vestax vcm-600)for them to release it to the public.and i'm definitely buying it!!!!
also really curious about using it with max/msp-ableton combined....those buttons COULD be used as a stepsequencer.now if only i knew a thing or two about making my own software

I fear that it will be too pricey for my poor pockets; anything over £400 is a bit much IMO, especially when you can an MPD32 and suchlike for less than £300.
Yes, it's just a little bit unique, but they (Abes/Akai) could go far, far wrong if they get the price wrong. It'll either be around the "right" price, they'll sell loads and they won't be able to meet demand. Or, they'll over-price it, sell it only to top-end "power-users" and make a loss.
Here's to hoping that a £400-or-less price point comes to fruition! Now to eBay some controllers...

I'm taking the high estimate...
My guess is this will be street priced at $799 -$999
I'm being serious... if it's the former I'll buy right away. If it's the latter I'll probably wait it our to see if it drops in price, much like everything else Akai makes.
FYI: Akai MPC-1000's have dropped to $849 new.
