MPD24 or Korg padkontrol

I am looking for a controller to just do simple drum programming on and maybe trigger clips when playing around at the house. which will suit me better, i already have a Novation remote Zero as well as Novation X-Station so just looking for a pad controller to compliment it

Padkontrol!

If you don t need the Faders and stuff - no question.

Padkontrol has the best Pads available.

I own the remote Zero and the Padkontrol - good Team.

to provide contrast I have the MPD and really make great use of the faders when I play around live.

I think it is a great device as well.

Do you need faders?

Do you want an XY pad?

Need the extra pots?

Love lights?

Which pads feel better to you?

Overall I think the construction on the MPD is a bit more rugged if that means something to you.

These questions will guide you in the right direction

i have the mpd 24 and mpd 32
i agree that if you don't need the faders and knobs go for the padkontroller
because of the xy pad and the visual feed back... plus those pads feel nice.

but the mpd is more rugged and has more controls
and i lke the feel of the mpd pads... i pound things so i think it was made for me

if you don't have any other controllers id actually say spend the extra cash for the mpd32 8 faders, knobs, buttons plus 3 banks also its easy to switch between presets

but if you just need some pads maybe the pk would be best

I traded my MPD24 for a padkontrol. The PK is more organic in it's playing, I tap it lightly with the tips of my fingers. The MPD was causing my fingers to hurt because I stomping it. But the sliders and knobs were nice, but since I got the UC33e, I didn't need the MPD's any more.

Do you find the UC sliders to be much better?

I am considering getting oen because it is more suited to what I want to do then the MPD

Also how is changing banks on the UC because I use a set that is 7 tracks wide so I have to change for my A and B setups.

Edit Also the BCF sliders... you think they are worthy? is UC better then BCF?

i own a PK, and today I JUST went and played an MPD24.

My fingers hurt from hitting that thing. I didn't get to alter the velocity curve, but in general i didn't enjoy it after being used to the light touch of the PK.

my vote is PK but the faders WOULD be nice....

If youre on OSX get the PadKontrol for use with Farmpad software to customise its controller setup - farmpad is free.

If youre on PC get the PadKontrol because its got more drumpad features IMHO.

The MPD is great too... so just be aware that you will probly want what you dont get but limitations can be good for making music.

I've had a Padkontrol for years and recently bought an MPD24. I have to say, I like the MPD WAY better. It's so much more rugged, and the faders/knobs are really handy. I personally don't see the point to the light up pads on the Korg. Also, the x/y pad is cool but realistically that's nothing you couldn't easily replace with 2 faders.
