Will Live 8 support wacom tablets?

I was wondering the same. I was afraid to ask because I don't want to be let down, again.

So, my guess is probably not.

The short answer is no.
The long answer is yes, if enough wacom users can agree on what exactly they want to happen. Eventually somebody will build a "driver" for the wacom to be built in Live. Since the wacom plugs and plays in Max as far as data goes.

Anything is possible it seems. From altering the way a parameter behaves when you tweak it with a pen to the ability to have lots of elements of the Live interface boiled down into a single device in Live.

I'd like to be able to adjust a parameter, such as a fader, knob, or envelope breakpoint using my pen.

That's pretty much it for me. Anything more than that I will consider icing on the cake.

I just want to be able to use my tablet in a normal way to interact with live, same as I would with a mouse.

Then use it as a mouse - these tablets have mouse drivers - at least mine does.

Have you tried that? It sucks. That's no solution, IMO.

Why? I used to do alot of graphics work with a tablet via the mouse driver.

That's why.

If I wanted to use my tablet as a mouse I would use a mouse.

Sorry for the sarcasm, Khazul, it's just that it has been quite a long time that we've been asking for this and we were even told last year that it was being worked on, and might even be included in a Live 7 update.

I can kinda see how its not so bad with a tablet, but many touch monitors use similar drivers and thus have similar issues. So if you want to actually touch the control with which you are working, then obviously using the "mouse mode" isn't a great soluion.

I think he's talking about switching the tablet to "mouse mode" or whatever. Which is no fun.

using a tablet in mouse mode imo is missing the point of using a tablet in the first place.

I use intuos and cintiq tablets. I've been using wacom tablets every day for my work for the last 6 years, unfortunately I'm not familiar with mouse mode. I use an intuos here at work, I don;t see a mouse mode in my preferences?

If you mean I would have to drag the tip of the pen along the surface then I would definitely have to agree that this is not a solution.

"To use it with ableton" is not an acceptable answer, as that is completely missing the point.

Sometimes its helpful to use the command key when dragging envelopes. It provides a finer (slower) resolution. But it's still far from being acceptable.
