if someone can confirm that max5 can send and receive sysex
then it will be possible with max for live ! i was told that the
"outside world" communication will not be crippled in MfL.

All looks good, but where's the #@!%& multi monitor support...

:(

I've been waiting for so long...

What do you want displayed on the second screen? Mixer? Clips? Porn Synced to the music? Stock Quotes? It'll sorta all be possible apparently.
Three monitors, one for session/mixer, one for arrangement and one for piano roll.

Once Live 8 and Max for Live are out, you will only have to make the request once more. I'm fairly confident that a detachable Mixer will be a piece of cake to make. Session view and piano roll will be a bit trickier but shouldn't be impossible to make.
Along with a detachable Transport, instruments, patches, effects,..

Are you sure 3 screens will be enough?

I'm fairly confident it will. But come on, you want that feature too :)

I haven't read the whole thread, maybe this has been said before.

Is there a possible downside to Max for Live? Like maybe I'm happy without it, don't see any need to get it and certainly don't have the time to create stuff on it. And I have a feature request for Live, just the standard version, no suite, no Max. And then everyone says "Ableton don't need to implement that 'cos if you have Max for Live..."

You see what I'm saying?

I kinda like the interface on a single screen. Especially with a future addition like the APC that'll navigate between views. I'm just saying that in about a half year.. Most feature requests will become a reality rather quickly. With multiple choices of solutions.

A valid point, was thinking about it as well, hopefully you don't need to turn into a nerd instead of an artist / musician with max/msp

more like - becoming somebody who endlessly emails H2k suggesting improvements to his patches.

There's enough people out there who will be happy producing weird useful gadgets so that you don;t really need to delve in yourself.

I'm pretty sure that about half of the NI Reaktor customers have never built anything more than a gain control. The Live user-library won't be huge immediately, but give it a year or two and I guarantee there will be something there for everyone.

So Max for Live is free..?

Reaktor is Reaktor. My worry is that Live will become 2 apps and to benefit from all the work done by Bjorn et al, I have to pay for MFL of course. While in the meantime, the main app, Live itself won't be given so much love and development.

I know what I wanna say, too late here to think straight and gotta work Saturday morning. Sucks.

I thinks it's going to be a cost issue for many. If you're not planning to program yourself, how much would you be prepared to pay for other people's useful little bits and bobs?

If max 5/msp is $500, I can't see max for live being much cheaper, unless it's severely crippled, which apparently it's not.

First post, hello Ableton junkies.
I use my second screen as a file manager for drag and drops, used to want multi screen support but not so sure anymore.

Typical though they announce the very nice looking APC40 the week after I get BCR and BCF2000's (sweet as they are) I will not be able to resist.
