Ableton 8
What will be the features for video?
Will I be able to load video clips in session view?
Yes? No?
what's the deal?
What about the partnership with Serato?
When will Version 8 be released? Most Important How much for existing customers?

The relative mode in modulation envelopes is my favorite!warabunga wrote: this relativ mode really sucks and it not a wyhiwyg approach...
or maybe someone can shed a light on how to use it...
!
Basically, the level that you have your control set to is the highest point.
If you need to clear it, just click the active clip once and right click on the control on the device, and select "Show Modulation", then select all and delete on the envelope.
GO VEGAN!!! - Macbook Air, Bass Station II, Some Korg shit, Live Suite, U-He, Audio Damage, Microtonic, Ohmicide, more soft stuffs, awesome controllers, euro rack modular synth,an awesome cat.
People look at software upgrades in a very personal way sometimes. The question isn't always "what have they done to make this product better for everyone" but rather "what have they done to make this product perfect for me?"Angstrom wrote:Some people look at software very oddly!
"what did they miss?" is just the wrong question. They didn't 'miss' anything, they just haven't done it yet.
There is a weird idea off some people that software MUST achieve everything all in one go. Which is just impossible.
So from my point of view, yes I am excited about even all the new features that don't even apply to how I work but at the same time I am quite disappointed because it looks like I have to continue using elaborate workarounds to get things done in a way I am satisfied with.
So for me "aww shucks they just haven't done it yet" "and better luck next time" just isn't very satisfying. That's why I started this thread. Not as a flaming criticism bash Abes for what they didn't do fest but to create a single place for people to point out what in their opinion was an obvious ommision (so far as we know) from Live 8.
+1, also not a real complaint, but the real WOW effect is missing. Very nice stuff has been done, but nothing really exeptional. Just moving. closer to others, but don't see more ableton invention... Again not to be missunderstood, just saying. I believe that several people carry ideas, they don't want to share "openly" !!??!!andydes wrote:They forgot to put in something no one asked for.
They’ve taken the most popular feature requests and done as many of them as they could. Live started as a totally unique program to try and do things very differently. In a way, it’s almost a shame that all of the new features look like they’ll work exactly as people would expect them to and not in some wierd Ableton way. Even the max in live thing seems to be what everyone was hoping for from the partnership.
That’s not a complaint at all, I think all these features were needed. But the real surprise was the shear amount of additions they made and not some crazy new idea that no one else had even dreamed of.
guess it will be an exiting next user group meeting in berlin.

Jamester & SubFunk etc, fair points - I take back my
from my last post.
I'm just so amazed by the stuff thats been included - pretty much all of which has been requested on the forum - that I can't think of a bad word to say!
But, like you say, it's legit to have a discussion about these things.

to everything (UAE), the "Feature wish list" forum will become a "feature order"
forum, where everyone who has Max for Live will be able to have some other
user program whatever it is they need. It's kind of like bullying people into getting
Max for Live, while at the same time having users come up with solutions to
feature requests. How will this affect future versions of Live? How will it look
when new official features have already been achieved by users in MFL?
This is taking the whole Web 2.0 thing a bit too far, IMO, unless they are going
to start hiring users as freelance programmers for every little implementation.
Yes, it is terrible that users will be able to add features themselves... oh the horror!
I hate the idea of being able to add a feature myself. I would much rather wait a year, hoping it will be added, and then have to purchase it if it happens to show up... </sarcasm>

yes please. curves man, curves.logman wrote:I hope I can draw nice clean curves and waves in clip and session automation. That shouldn't require a complete re-write, should it?
Native re-routing of Midi outputs to Midi control would be nice too.
Yup. I do love this app. I mean i use it all the time and turned (with a followed purchase) at least about 30 people witin the last 2 years onto it. In the shop that belongt to our club and in private... Organising the user group meetings, etc.six_o_clock_crow wrote:Jamester & SubFunk etc, fair points - I take back myfrom my last post.

Don't even know why i need to "apologise"
Keep up the discussion the abes are listening

My most wanted missing feature is a back to arrangement button on each track.
"The banjo is the perfect instrument for the antisocial."

I'm suprised nobody's mentioned either of my two wishes:
1. A convolution Reverb
2. Destructively rendering effects to an audio clip without having to bounce (offline processing)
for me, Live 8 = HUGE WIN. However, these 2 features, and maybe some sort of melodyne implementation, and I'll NEVER look back.
