Maybe nice to have a public thread about the new features etc.

Well, the new efx are DOPE , especially the redux ... 2/8 bit gameboy sounds on flick of the switch ...

Is this temporary, but I see no midi control possible of the clip edit (transpose/loop/warp?)

Post by MM » Sun Dec 08, 2002 1:31 pm

good:

- a real better sounding sound engine !!!!! GREAT !!!
- crossfader!!
- fullscreen mode
- gate
- recording engine

bad:

- nearly the double amount of cpu usage!!!
- no support of older asd files...
- you cannot select a midcontroller to the new crossfader yet

??? more to come ??

cheers,
Matthias

Agree on the exponentially improved audio engine .... a pity that the v2.0 'render to disk' is disabled in order to A/B 1.5.2 to 2.0 'cause maybe I'll be able to drop my request for individual track rendering to disk [for mastering in dedicated multitrack sw] and use Live as multitrack sw as well ....

First impressions

Crossfader function - oh yeah - this is great - i can see me using this a lot with my control freak. Would be nice to be able to select the crossfader curve.

new fx
Redux - bit reduction - great for getting dirty grimey sounds.
Gate - fairly standard gating effect - useful for adding a bit of extra bite to drums

Separate soloing and cue buttons - i always found just having the one button to do both a bit annoying so this is welcome.

New stretching algorythms - not had enough time to do decent a to b testing but certainly sounds a lot better stretching musical loops (as opposed to percussive)

Being able to drop the gain of a sample by more than -6db is great as well.

Overall not a massive update but a worthy one nevertheless - its kinda hard to improve on an already excellent product.

My mistake - apparently you can render to disk ... I would have sworn that at one moment I couldn't .... [render2disk greyed out ???]... but can't reproduce ....

Did the performance test many of us did with the arranger demo song :

Under v1.0 I had :
test1 : 8-9%
test2 : 14-15%

Under v2.0 I have :
test1 : 4-5%
test2 : 18-19%

Metronome sound changing

Post by jamie f » Sun Dec 08, 2002 4:14 pm

You can change the metronome sound in the resources folder by simply removing the old wav file and replacing it with one of your choice.
You must name it as metronome file Though !

Usefull for that personal touch! :P

Would be nice if we could route the metronome to its own channel to feed eg. a clicktrack to a Live player (drums etc)

 I would like to have the automation/envelopes snap to the quantization. Maybe this could be toggled by use of the crtl or alt button.
