Hang on, so you're saying that
a) D.N.A. isn't vapourware
b) It's integrated into Logic???

it was the melodyne vst. i'm not sure i understand your question.

It's okay, I think you've answered it - from the sounds of it you could highlight audio in a region in logic, press a button and Melodyne analyses what's there and brings up an interface to edit the harmonics etc in place?

I'm just confused as to how the audio gets into Melodyne - it's obviously not realtime, so do you record a bit into the VST first and then analyse/edit?

right . it works the same way it does now. you have audio in a channel, hit 'transfer' in melodyne, hit play in your sequencer and when the audio is done hit stop in your sequencer. melodyne then shows you the notes of what was just played :) then you can edit it in real time

Hey ARDJ,

Great article

One thing on the buttons/pads on the APC 40.

I know they're not velocity sensitive but do they feel like small pads or are they just buttons. Is there an up-down motion on them ?

Triggering clips with a monome type button is just not the same as with a triggering with a trigger finger like pad esp if you are changing the start position with a fader or something, the up-down motion of a button disturbs your flow a lot. Pads would be the bomb but I'll settle for buttons and keep a trigger finger.

There are two jacks on the back of the APC40. What are they? I'm guessing foot controller inputs...

Also, the big question... bus powered? I'm guessing no...

Maybe that's an alarm wire... To stop some 'dodgy Ableton fanboy' from nicking one! :D

Agreed... I just got a Central Station and I was sooo depressed when I opened the box to find a big heavy new wart awaiting me.

It's all a part of the friendly $399 price tag though...

You can see the two 1/4" jacks here if you scroll down a tad:
