I'm not very happy about this politic of upgrades.
I have bought ableton 7 boxed with EIC 2 for 499 Euro last year, and i really would like to upgrade to suite, but why in dicember and now for upgrade to suite i will have to spend 299 Euro while newer members have many discount like operator drumm machine for free and special offers for upgrade?
499+299=799
Newer price for ableton suite:699

Well, but compared to them you've been using Live 7 for your creative work for some time now. Maybe the benefits for old owners aren't that good, haven't really looked into that, but if you think of it that way, then the next update from Live 8 to Live 9 shouldn't cost anything, because your Suite 9 becomes even more expensive than the new Live 9 Suite.

Upgrading later isn't the same thing as buying a new product. It's just a little discount so that old users wouldn't have to buy a completely new product each year.

Plus they do need new customers to keep on developing Live, since those are the ones who bring in the most money.

Yes, that's true too.... and of course I would like to pay less myself too. I own Live 7 and want to upgrade to Suite 8.
