Maybe they didn't miss it.Donnie wrote:Everything I wanted besides a detachable interface or some sort of multiple monitor options. Its suprising they missed that.
Maybe they just thought it was not important.
It certainly isn't for me.
Live is one of the few seq's or perhaps the only seq that can comfortaly be run on one screen.
And I love that!
I also love not having extra screens cluttering up my studio or costing me money.

seriously, i don't understand this misguided assumption that Live is "supposed" have separate screens/windows for it's interface, and just hasn't "gotten" there yet.....the single-screen/window interface (other than flipping session/arrangement) is one of the things i LOVE about live, and hope never changes. floating windows destroy my workflow. i don't want a clip window that moves around, overlaps other things....
the ableton GUI is an example of simple = better. i'm very thankful live8 didn't TOUCH it. good job guys.

Wait... Dual monitor support? It already has it.
This is how I use it with 2 monitors on my laptop:

The 2nd monitor is placed slightly behind and above my laptop. The arrangement is displayed on it, while the clip views are displayed on my laptop. Basicly that line in the middle is the division line
EDIT: LOL I just saw what the names of tracks 25 and 26 show lolololol how stupid is that!

but in truth you could actually make your own GUI with Max for Live
I have a feeling there would probably be a way - even if indirectly - maybe it would require the full Max or runtime, but if you can pipe data through various different means then there is probably a wayAngstrom wrote:I'm not so sure about that.forge wrote:

I think max for live's "presentation mode" folds down into the wee device view.
although I may be wrong about that
Robert alluded tom something like this in another thread regarding making pictures with clips - he may have been joking but you can do things like that with Max
I think everyone is going to be surprised at just how much can be achieved with it

I have 3 questions.
1.
Where did you all see mentioned that tracks could be given diff colours, or was that a joke?
I've read everything I can find here and on Ableton.com and on CDM.
2.
What is Sound Objects Lite? Again, read everything found nothing.
3.
Why have I not read anyone on the forum commenting on Ableton's use of the plural 'controllers' when referring to APC40's genesis?
This suggests to me that more are to be designed, no?
(This one I did eventually find mentioned in a CDM article.)

sorry, there's been so many threads I have no idea, it was an off the cuff comment from Robert about using pictures for clips - he could well have been joking, but it's not out of the realm of possibility where Max is concernedbendybones wrote:I have 3 questions.

I've been wanting this for a long time since I tend to think of groups of parameters in terms of colors in my mind. Great to see that I will be able to visualize it on the screen as well.Poster wrote:no joke.. track headers, rack macros and rack chains in the chain list..bendybones wrote:I have 3 questions.
