Same DrumPad/Midi Note on two or more different clips?

Post by Bum Tschak » Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:53 pm

Hey there,
i`m a drummer and i´m new to ableton, so please forgive me, if my question is dumb...

i would like to use the same drum pad (same midi note) to trigger two different snare sounds, f.i. verse & chorus in a live performance.

so i built one track called "trigger snare" and put the two clips with the two differnt snare samples in there.
i was hoping, i could then - by changing the scene - trigger those two samples at the time with that one pad.
it doesn`t work, live tells me, i can only use a specific midi note once on one clip...
please, does anybody have the answer or an alternative concept for that problem?
Thanx,
Bum Tschak

hey...erhm, bum. this is possible. But I'm confused, are you triggering an impulse sampler?

If you're triggering regular audio clips, which is what it sounds like to me, you shouldn't be triggering specific clips, but instead you should trigger the "track launch" button, that appears just above the routing and the sends, when you turn on the midi map mode switch.

then the scene up/down will change, what the track launch activates. This is the best way to cut down on the number of midi assignments in your setup.

This idea is a really cheap hack, but you might be able to work some magic with midipipe and just use a midi signal to trigger both a midi note and a keyboard signal to a different trigger....
