How many of us ?

How many full licenses for Live are out there ? Or more accurately, how many single users are there, as 1 user might hold a few licenses with upgrades etc.

As a very rough estimate.

I read somewhere that Ableton employs about 100 people. if the average salary is 30K then they need an annual income of at least 3 million just to pay the wages. Factor in taxes, rent, rates, fuel bills, furniture, equipment and software licensing costs and you can at least double that. If an average customer spends 300 a year that would mean a ball park estimate of around 20,000 licensed users, possibly many more.

I've no idea really, just whiling away a bored Saturday afternoon until it's time to go to the pub.

I bet it's way more than 20.000. However I don't think the Abes will tell you. I wouldn't...

Hehe, I don't think you'll find any software programmers that work for 30k these days. Try multiplying this by at least 2 if not 3 times.

Not in the music market. I've been for interviews with music software companies. Wages are roughly half other sectors e.g. telecoms and probably a 3rd compared to banking sw.

That may be the case and I agree that other sectors pay more, but I bet you that even in the music industry it's multiple times more than 30k otherwise I'd probably move into a different sector.

Not in my experience (we're talking EUR, yeah?). 30K EUR is about right. Unless I've been really bad at the interviews and they just wanted to get rid of me. That's one reason why I've not tried harder to move from a more lucrative field into music.

Edit: oh, and jobs in Berlin pay even less than many other major cities.

In the UK £30K is about average for software development roles, more for a team leader. More down south, less up north. A new graduate would be lucky to earn 25K

My last job was at Siemens developing embedded C++ software for VOIP phones - 31.5K.
