Maybe the reason why we have a price for Live 8 but not MFL is because the price of Live is decided by Ableton alone but the price for MFL has to be agreed between Ableton and C74.

I suspect they have quite different opinions.

I hope they can come up with a bundle price for Live Suite + MFL.

I also wish (with little hope) that they will open the API so that some enterprising individual could make a home brewed PD for Live.

I don't know.
I just hope they'll "respect" us, pretty and cool customers ;-)

indeed, it is a fundamental thing to know.
I mean: I WANT TO buy Live 8 especially for Max for Live extension... should I wait for a bundle or should I fire my order ?

will the API be "open" ? or only useable with some private rpc inside the code ;-)
I think it should be open... they'll be more rich in the future (open API free.. but they'll earn money with Live8 license!)

If you own do Live and Max/MSP (I don't btw) then I think Max for Live should be free or at least VERY minimal token cost. You’ve supported both companies and you’re essentially not getting anything new just integration. Would people pay a premium for rewire, maybe, if they really needed it, but they wouldn’t be happy about it.

For us Live only users I just hope it’s nowhere near the same as price Max/MSP + Jitter, I think we could do with a lot less objects than seasoned Max/MSP users so here’s hoping for a reasonable entry point. If it’s €100-200 I’ll prob go for it any more and I’ll have to think about it.

I doubt it will be less than $300. It took both companies two years.

They probably spent at least six months making blueprints, and a year + coding and testing.....

I don't think they will open up Live's API either. With Max, and every other feature Ableton has, it is starting to look like one of the most, if not the most powerful DAW now.

They have a couple of things left with automation, they have a little bit of updating to do with their other fx, like the reverb, and delays, and etc...

Elastik Pro is what PT and Cubase have, right?

Yep...

There just isn't any competition for Ableton now.

The only question left, is where Ableton will go in the future. Extremely high sample rates, built in jitter suppression technology, keeping up with parallel computing.....

Yep, Max4live wont be cheap... I'm budgeting $250 - $400.... I most likely wont by the Max4Live until quarter 4, 09......

interesting debate.

indeed, the question of availability is just important too !

I guess we'll all buy live 8 before to know much and ... we'll have the BiG* surprise later :? :? :?

This poll is a bit skewed to provide a particular answer

<50$
50$<price<100$
100$<price<200$
200$<price<500$ wtf gap !
500$< unlimited budg

the option 200 - 500 is crazy, so if I expect it to cost $300 I am effectively saying I will pay up to $500. That's $200 more!

the option setter wants to produce a skewed poll I guess?
otherwise why set an option whose gap is the same as all the previous options combined.

ahah
indeed, I make an ascending delta 50, 100, 300, infinite ....
you're right!

I just wanted to provoke a debate ;)
and it works ;)

If it is over 300, only mega geeks will buy it.

If it is around 100-150, it will become a new standard for Musicproduction.....

my 2 cents

Agreed, but do you really think that Ableton will sell MFL for the same price as one of their instruments? I hope I'm wrong, but I really can't see it.

Yeah, I own Live Suite, and Max/MSP/Jitter. All in over $1200 bucks already.

I don't mind paying for MFL but since I own both already I would hope there is a significant discount for it.
