work around with scene launching not starting all clips

Trying to figure a work around for this:

within a scene I have 7 tracks containing a single clip on each track.
I start the scene with a designated BPM which starts all the clips then.
What I want to do is -->
only start one of the tracks(clips) and not the others when starting the scene.
Then, when ready, start the other tracks(clips)

I have always used 2 scenes to accomplish this before, but does anyone have a trick or an idea that can work with just a single scene?? It would help me run a cleaner set is the main reason.

what i've done in the past is set the start time for the loops you don't want to play at minus 9 or 8. Then set the loop points around the actual audio.

so it will play silence for 8 measures and then come in with the audio and continue to loop that audio.

the downside is you loose that audio (for those 8 measures) when you retrigger the scene. If that's not a problem then you're golden.

Actually thought about that but that gap would be tough to deal with live which is what this is used for.

basically what is happening is that initial clip is sending a drum clip and the drummer when ready counts us in. I in turn fire up the rest of the clips in the scene so we all come in happily together.

These are all midi clips also if that sparks an idea.

so you have two scenes per song? or even more scenes then that?

and then your whole night is in one live file?

off the top of my head it seems like the two scenes is really the simplest way to do it. More control, easy to program.

I use 2 scenes per song give or take a few in some songs.
1 live file containing 9 sets of 12 each - 108 songs total.
We used to have 4-5 scenes per song so I could jump around the songs for the vocalist, but she has really gotten better and can go with the songs straight through and adapt if she daydreams and gets lost. :?
After 2 years I really have it down great for the band live but still like to take it further at times

108 songs? good god....

what kind of project are you playing for?

If she IS down with straight through i would say make em all one scene. She'll get used to whatever you end up doing anyway.

he-he, ofcourse we don't play 108 songs. That just gives us the opportunity to pick and choose at will through the night with the push of a pedal, which makes for a smoother running show.

I did come up with one work around using midi-stroke though that went well last weekend.

using a FCB1010 board I have:
1 oedal - assigned to play and stop at the same time through midi-stroke
2 pedal - assigned to play on the click channel, stop on all other channels
3 pedal - assigned to play entire scene

So when I hit the 1 pedal the BPM is set and all tracks are on and ready.
I hit pedal 2 and the drum track starts playing as well as all the other tracks will not play.
Finally, or after the drummer decides to count us off or at any time with the third pedal everything plays.

May sound screwy but in practice it's pretty straightforward :D
