Berlin Advice
Hey Troops
Me & the good lady are off to Berlin for a long weekend in feb and was wondering if I could trouble you lot for some advice (people who have been or live there obviously)
We will be looking to go to a couple of club (house/minmal/techno etc)
And some nice places to eat
Cheers

Hi, some suggestions here: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=102992
For food I highly recommend skipping dinner and fuelling up here instead - http://www.erstesabsinthdepotberlin.de/index1.html - then go clubbing until 7am - grab some falafel/döner - go back into the club - repeat until it's time to go home...

Yes, it does. And when you're pushing on a bit and in your twilight years like me, it really takes it out of you - I'm wiped out for a couple of days after that! But also, you start later - you only turn up at around 2am. S'all good.nebulae wrote:doesn't being up all night totally mess up your sleep schedule?
yup, it's a mental attitude, we berlin people are made of $£^%&£ it's virtually indestructable, you feel it a bit while you get older, but as he said we lot don't start before 2am to show in a club, but usually have a warmup8O wrote:Yes, it does. in the real days of berlin, 3 days in a row where standard.
ok, to the original poster...
clubs are a plenty, weekend, watergate, panorama bar / berghain / kantine... tresor, TAPE (that one is smart! and not to full of zombies or kids after 3am, but usually only goes 'till max 7-8am
send a PM 2-3 days before you come, no promise if something small is happening, but i recommend going to parties like the one wallace played, or eggnchips did.... MUCH better music then in the one i mentioned and nicer people, too...
a bit of a way from the center, but rechencentrum is cool.
about food, you need to be more precise... what type, budget. i love food and i am sure that i can give some great tips, but don't want to write a book, you want smart restaurants? cheap, cool eats? real streetfood or a taste of it all?
cheers

GAFM ***A good club is reportedly Alte Renate (don't remember where it is located...).
As for food, eat the biggest schnitzel ever in Neuköln, at a restaurant called Louis, Richardplatz, U-bahn Karlmarxstrasse. Enjoy some good turkish or lebanese food in Kreuzberg as well: cheap and tasty Shawarma at Maroush, Adalbertstrasse, off Oranienstrasse towards Kottbusser Tor.
Keep off Charlottenburg after partying hard or you might feel very alone.
And yes, everyone is either unemployed, a DJ, or a clubber, and quite often all three at the same time.
my 2 pfennig.
