As an experiment I recorded some sets of every note from C1 going up to C5 of my hand-built modular synth. A lot happens in an analog synth; the scaling in mine is not perfect, also the pitch wavers slightly on every notes start and so on and so forth; multisampling catches some of these nuances.
Each note is 1 bar long at 120 BPM. I figured that would be long enough for me most situations. The samples are not looped, but you could loop them if you need them to play longer, personally I can't be bothered. The unpacked LivePack needs 150MB Hard disk space.
I banged some clips together to give you an idea of what's possible. Samples are recorded at 96Khz if you think that's a waste of space batch convert them to whatever suits you

When you start tweaking it's a good idea to briefly switch the filter off, so you can hear the raw sample. The clips don't have any EQ or effects on them yet. The FM oscillator in Sampler works very well with these samples too. Try the waveshaper before/after the filter also... nice!
Let me know what you think!

Would the Roland SH1000 be of interest?

I really like the sound of it... quite raw and bassy

Just a question...do you have tried to use the same method with other soft-samplers? I'm sure that the sound results will be very very very different. A very short recording (or single cycle waveforms) cannot reproduce the sound in "a right way". This is because every sampler uses its own technique (shaping, aliasing, etc). The best way to emulate an analog synth is to record it note by note (long recordings). Surely your method will give you interesting results but not a pure analog sound, as long as we can speak of "analog" in the digital domain.3rdordertrauma wrote:I knew I should have included the disclaimer for all the ANALog purists. Which states that in no way shape or form are these Sampler Instruments meant to perfectly model or emulate the dynamic world of analog synthesis. Would be a neat trick if I could magically turn Sampler into a $24000 dollar polyphonic analog modular. But I'm afraid I'd be in for a big chore!bensuthers wrote:single cycle analog?

Again the goal of this pack is NOT to provide analog emulations. Rather waveforms that can be used in various samplers to help musicians create some interesting music. The digital domain yeilds for different and very interesting options and sound analog doesn't have.Scube wrote:Just a question...do you have tried to use the same method with other soft-samplers? As an example, do grab the pack and try and layer several simplers with saws from different synths or even saws from the same synth. You'll notice not an analog sound (of course not!) but still something very usable and maybe even musical to your ears.
It more started as building a library of things we used and share them rather than pretending at creating an analog emulation out of one wavecycle. Although such a thing would be super neat
Oh..I was referring to your first post "these Sampler Instruments meant to perfectly model or emulate the dynamic world of analog synthesis"opuswerk wrote:

P.S. I like digital and analog both (even if I prefer digital)

Sorry, feeling a bit slow on the pick up here.
Do these packs install content other than the Project. For instance, when I open one of these packs it asks me where I would like to put the project, the desktop for instance. Is this where I access these sounds from or does it install the content elsewhere as well.
Sorry, struggling with the Pack concept a bit. Cheers for the help.

You can install them where ever you like... lets say desktop for now. Once installed there open the live set go to "manage files" in the file menu. This opens a bar on the right side of Live... select "manage project". On the bottom you'll see a button that says export to library. Once you've done that all the sample will be part of your library. Once exported to library you can delete session off your desktop with no problems.Dan Dare wrote:Sorry, feeling a bit slow on the pick up here.
