100GB 5400rpm laptop HD prices going down.,..

thought some of you might like to know...

newegg.com has the new Seagate Momentus
100GB 5400rpm (8mb cache) 2.5" laptop Hard Drive for cheaper than i've ever seen
$207 shipped
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 223&depa=3

just as cheap as Toshiba's 4200rpm 100GB offering.
an ideal HD for Live , especially for those of you who DJ with Live, where each track in your virtual record box is taking 60 to 70MB. and the 5400rpm is nice, much better than 4200rpm but not much worse than 7200rpm... that aspect is also great for Live DJing i'd imagine, since i dont expect AbeLive DJ's to load their tracks into RAM.

:D

8mb buffer vs 16, 5400rpm vs 7200, etc

Is 5400/16mb much better for sample playback than 5400/8mb? 7200 much better than 5400?? Anyone who has compared, please post your findings!

There was a huge thread on this very topic in September.... If you search the site with those keywords, you will find what was posted, along with performance benchmarks and everything else needed to make a decision. (Keywords: 5400, 7200, 80 gig, 16 Meg? >> that should help you get going >> Adam Jay was a major contributor to that thread)

Yano?
stay groovy!
