If you're thinking about Genelec 8030 price range then the most popular additional suggestions here are:
Adam A7
Dynaudio BM 5A
Blue Sky Mediadesk
I have the Genelecs and am really happy with them. Have a friend with the Mediadesks and they are also really impressive.
They are all really different and in the end it comes down to taste, I think. Spend as much time as possible listening to the different speakers before buying.
And, in the General forum, this topic comes up all the time, it's worth reading discussions there.
Here's a good search link to kick-off: http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Af ... +recommend

I have EVENT ASP8s
I love them more than life itself. Crystal clear stereo image, punchy mids, accurate but smooth highs and earthshaking bass response (down to about 35hz!).
I think they've been discontinued now, but I really rate Event. Worth taking a look at their newer products, I reckon

MacPro Quad Xeon 2.66, 4GB, Fireface 400, Event ASP8, UAD-1e, Live 7, Kore 2, Reaktor 5
Kontakt 3, Battery 3, Plogue Bidule, Sylenth1, Blue, SoundToys Native FX and some other bits and bobs

Use your money well!
Check out the Yamaha HS-80M first!
They beat the most other monitors...KRK, Event, Genelec.....
I just couldnt believe how Neutral and Natural they sound
I did buy mine and i just love them!
Try to compare them with other monitors and you will be surpriced how often you will go back to the Yamahas! They just have this...you know! Honest!

Bitwig/1.0.5 - Ableton/Live 8 - Apple/MacPro-2.8Ghz-8Core-RAID - Samsung/SM-P2770H 27" - Yamaha/HS80M/HS10W - Behringer/BCR/BCF - Allen & Heath/Xone:3D - Sennheiser/HD25-13 - Native Instruments/Komplete9/Traktor Pro
It all depends on taste (and then budget
)
I have Adam A7's with a Sub12 set with a shelving filter of 85Hz. I like the extremely crisp sound they make and the sub is a compliment to the deep end.
However with you room size, I would choose the A7's and the Sub8 instead.
If you have any serious resellers in your area of this small world, they are probably able to have you try a few constellations of different models and brands at home. That's the only way to hear what sounds good in your space.

I think when your buying speakers within that price range your not really going to get a bad pair....and we of course will always recomend the ones were happy with
So my vote goes with the KRK VXT 6 as i use them. Also just about all of the above mentioned ive heard great reports about...
Dont stress too hard choosing....
One thing though, for dance music lots of people think its better to have an 8" bass cone for the wider bass frequency response....
But, on the other hand i know loads of artists who do VERY well with 6" cones..
So erm yeah....get the VXT 6's heheheheee
On a side note those Rubicon 5a's are not bad, ive heard them and are they not best in their range or something for cheaper monitors?? I would keep em for reference monitoring perhaps??

Ive heard a lot of mixed reviews on them to be honest.
Have you used the KRKs, Event, Genelec's etc so you have experience how they sound?? Id like to know in your opinion why you think they are better than "most" others?
Im looking for a decent priced set for referencing with, so it may be worth checking these out further if they are indeed this good...
Thanks
