Yup. Connect the USB. Let it load (you should hear the 'ding'). Open Ableton and make sure its selected in the preferences. I don't remember if you need to install drivers or not.amon2385 wrote:does anyone else own the m-audio fasttrack pro?

You can then select either left, right, or stere in the input/output selections in ableton.

I'm using one, no problems with it.
It will install a control panel that sits in your systray.
You then setup Ableton to use it.
Options > Preferences > Audio Tab
1) Set Driver Type: Asio
2) Set Audio Device: M-Audio USB ASIO
That will get sound IN to your PC.
Getting it out depends on your setup

hey man! i just got rid of one. i had quite a few problems at first trying to get the driver to work properly. Every time i'd shut windows down it would lose the fast track pro and id have to start over. Eventually i got it all working, and really, nothing was bad about it at all (just my computer).
what issues are you having exactly?

well, i don't think the fasttrack has 4 normal ins at all. you have 2 ins via the front, and two that are spdif, if you have such a thing. you need to open up the fast track pro's control panel (are you on windows?) and make sure that whatever ins and outs that are on it that you plan on using are checked. don't check them if you don't want to use them.
there are 4 outputs, though to access the other two you need to use the rca outputs, or hit the ab switch so they go through the headphones.
as long as they are checked in the fast track pro's control panel then you can access them in live. make sure the headphones are set to 3/4 at the bottom of the screen, and that the hardware outputs in preferences have 3 and 4 enabled.
if you're using a lite version of the software you might be limited on how many ins you can use at the same time.
hope that helps.

This might help
in osx you only get 1 + 2 if you arent using the driver,
"The Fast Track Pro is a Class-Compliant device, which means that no driver is required under Mac OS X. Just connect the Fast Track Pro to an available USB port on your Mac and enjoy. Installing the available driver is necessary for using the S/PDIF digital I/O and addressing outputs 3/4."
maybe its the same for windows...
