god i hate these threads, almost as much as i hate myself for posting in them...
you haven't seen spam, fella. nice of you to join our little tea party, don't cry if we dump yours on your crotch. off topic, pffft!
do you even know the definition of general?
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/general

http://www.wordreference.com/definition/general
http://www.answers.com/topic/general
http://www.brainyquote.com/words/ge/general168607.html
http://www.yourdictionary.com/general
please visit these links, and tell me what you think the definition of general means, in the context of ableton live forums:users:general forum... i guess my friends and i are mistaken to assume that this forum is, indeed, our "off topic" forum. how can a forum, by who's definition is broad; unspecialized, etc., ever be "off topic"?
EVERY TOPIC IN OUR "GENERAL" FORUM IS ON TOPIC!

all this live 8 talk makes me feel that my live 7 is incapable of using
They don't though, not really.jonny72 wrote: I'd like to see the forums being re-organised....Even if it did everyone would still post complete and utter bollocks all over the place as they do at the moment.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't seeing any political threads in tips and tricks, post your music, feature requests, or bugs lately, or ever for that matter.
hear hear!leisuremuffin wrote: general forum.
general topics.

if an "OT" thread remains at the front of the page here its because the community is interested in talking about it. the community is what generates the on topic content as well.
hear hear, and long live sarkey badger!Martyn wrote:I like it exactly as it is.
For questions and queries or any other general information regarding Ableton Live, there's this thing called a manual. If that's not enough, these are actual lessons built into the program itself. There has to be discussion on other topics otherwise this place would become exceedingly dull. </sarkey badger mode>

long live the general section!
please make this thread a sticky for new people!

You know, that's just stupid. Just like Martyn said -dinsync wrote:+11111
The abes should be ashamed. I can't imagine what a potential user would think who came to the forums.
General should mean "General Ableton"
How hard is it to make an Off-topic section?
"For questions and queries or any other general information regarding Ableton Live, there's this thing called a manual. If that's not enough, these are actual lessons built into the program itself."
And it isn't like there is not a wealth of information on this forum to be had as well by doing a simple search, probably the first ableton function that should be taught to any new person.
Sure, the search function blows, so search the site using google. 9 times out of 10 the shit people post about or ask questions about has been posted about and discussed already once a month for the past 5 years -
what midi controller is best for my abletons - will ableton work for me - how do I make a fat tarnce lead - can I sell my lite ableton - or like this discussion for example.
I wonder if most of the people bitching about "OT" are even aware that there is a tips and tricks section and other sections to the forum here?
Christ man, get over it.
And this forum is actually quite tame to a lot of others. Try looking through the Serato forums some time. I mean, there is good info and decent people there, but man you want to talk about some serious knuckleheads?
