MPC500 & Ableton

Post by Tortoise » Sat Jan 24, 2009 7:42 pm

Hey,

Trying to hook up my new MPC500 to use it together with Ableton.
So maybe you guys can help out cause I can't get it right:

i've connected it with USB, but inside Ableton it is not detected, so I can't midimap it etc. I installed the latest OS from AKAI, but is there something more I need to do in order to get it to work?

Also it would be nice to hear from you about the ways you use the MPC and Ableton together.

the MPC500 doesn't do MIDI over USB, so you're out of luck there.
To use it as a controller, you will have to run it through a MIDI interface.

Thanks! I just realized that, I'm waiting for my midi interface to arrive anyday now.

I've only just started sync'ing my 500 up with Live, but so far it's running a dream. It works on all level; triggering sounds in Live, being triggered by Live, or just straight sync & record to an audio track.

I love my 500!

If you like the 500 you should try the 1000 with JJ Os. Rocks!
