[4306]looper : halving to smallest length makes it go crazy!

Post by Angstrom » Wed Jan 28, 2009 6:39 pm

when you halve down to a very small loop length then double back up again - the looper loses its marbles. Even if you fade the buzzing away whatever you then play into the looper will sound like a buzz.

reproduce
  • record something into the looper, a bar in length
  • halve the length ten timesso that whatever you played now it sounds like a buzz
  • double the length back up ten times so it is once again a bar in length
  • turn the feedback down to make the horrible buzzing sound go away.
  • play something into the looper
  • bzzzzzzzzz sound on whatever you play
it is like the looper length has shortened so far that, even though the GUI now displays a loop of a bar, we are actually still dealing with a loop of about 10ms

or perhaps something even weirder . because once the length is back up to a reasonable bar and you play a note in - what is played back does come around on the bar, but it sounds like a stuck flanger.

I think this might not be a bug or anything.
It's just that you're overdubbing on a horrible buzz.
Compare the sound to:
Record, halve ten times, double ten times, and leave that buzz going

In a new track, play over it
Still sounds crazy.

no.

you can use the feedback control to fade the buzz away to -inf.

now you will hear complete silence

play a few notes, and when they come around you will hear them as a brrrrrrrrrrrrr

I will upload an audio example

Hi,

I move the thread away as this is fixed currently. Please open a new thread if you have other problems with the buffer manipulation.
