I don't know why they wouldn't have the pads be velocity sensitive... I thought the Streetboxx did...Tone Deft wrote:video of them at winter NAMM '09.

so many people are eating crow right about now
gonna have to pick one of these up, there has never been a beatmachine with features like this, mod and pitchwheels alone will make it a classic. it wil be intresting to see what the real price ends up being.
I love how they put alot of we can't put that in there 'features now you know when you look at other manufacturers look at you and tell you 'they can't' that they are full of bs. and for this thing to come out at a time when software is king is just a nice ending to the story.
fucking south
, while the rest of the bunch are quibbling over this and that, the southern folk put a robe and some slippers on and get the job done
some things I don't like though, blinking lights, that crap is distracting, organic beatmakers don't like to be distracted by a bunch of f'king blinking lights while they make music.
old asrx style pads, i hated those on the asrx and I still don't like the idea, it would of been better if they just made them square and even black and white if you want to give the piano look and position. good i dea on paper but meh me not think so . the great thing about a bunch of square pads just lined up next to each other again is the fact that it doesn't provoke anything into the creative process, religious beatmakers get into a zen like process and want the music or the ideas in ones own head to be whats imposing itself on the creative process not some damn funny shaped keys blinking and making you think of pianos.
I would have like to see more outputs

I don't. I think they'd advertise it as such, maybe that software is still in development or they're still raising cash to buy someone else's slicing technology.starving student wrote:tone how do you know there is no sample slicer?Tone Deft wrote:video of them at winter NAMM '09.

only in the south would they put grills on a drumsampler
I love the diversity of this country, I have friends that can't get enough of the music from over there and other friends that will leave your house if you start to play that music.
if they don't get the sampling features right on this I'll be pissed, I could give a fuck about some 24bit output

I, for one, would like to see them succeed. Do they need some PR help?
Definitely.
But what's wrong with the machine itself? Obviously they put some time into it's development. They are trying to introduce features that they feel Akai has dropped the ball on. They are passionate about their product.
I think that a good PR and marketing department may make people reevaluate this "thang".
I'm from Philadelphia. Call me crazy, but I like to root for the underdog and the little guy. If you don't have that, who will keep the big companies honest? Just my $.02.

it's the hip hop attitude, grow up.

will people be unable to make electro with it? what about backing tracks for my acoustic rock band?

that's the thing that makes me not give a shit about it. I'm from the south and I could care less about grillz and other fucking ridiculousness. The whole focus of the machine is clearly not for me. I love rap and hip hop. But I don't make it. The one thing these guys don't realize about why the other machines are so great is because of their neutrality. Sure the MPC series is well known for hip hop but over here in Japan one of my favorite bands is a hardcore industrial noise band and they have a real minimal setup. MPC and a Roland synth.
I think it's cool to customize and all that stuff, but they shot themselves in the foot by being so narrow.
I know some hiphop heads that won't touch anything associated with grillz and that part of the rap culture.
