I have tried them out briefly, and I can tell you they're absolutely stunning to use. 10/10.

No detents, and, more importantly, *encoder acceleration* which means you can do really smooth detailed work AND do a full 0-127 sweep really quickly.

WRT switching between "max'ed mode" and "non-max'ed mode"... really interested in hearing about that, as well.

Nice, good to hear. but how are the pads ? Button'y or pad'y ? Is there an up-down (monome'y) button motion or do they trigger when you hit them like pads ?

Not a deal breaker for me but I much love retriggering loops on my trigger finger than my monome. The up-down motion really throws me when triggering repeatedly with buttons.

eh? I'm confused ;)

I liked the action, it didn't seem to floppy on the way up, not in a way that could feel like an actuation of the button. And the lights... the pretty pretty lights!

Apologies if this has already been answered - I did a search but couldn't find this info.

Will I be able to have the APC40 working in tandem with a Novation remote SL? Both connected to computer at same time? The APC40 seems great for performance, launching clips etc. But as a keyboard player, the Novation is essential to me for recording and composition.

Why not? You were alway able to use multiple controllers at the same time.

It sounds like the APC40 doesn't have any MIDI then? If so that's a shame, since it would be nice to plug in additional controllers via MIDI without having to bring a separate MIDI interface.

Also, the bank issue on the device encoders (bottom 8) is unclear to me: is it possible to do bank switching on these via Max4Live?

Complaints about the price are rather pointless: if you feel it's not worth the asking price, don't buy it. That's capitalism. I'd be willing to buy it at the European price, since I was expecting it to be more.

I notice it has dedicated Headphone cue controls but no headphone jack, does this mean i will still need a soundcard to DJ cue tracks ?

Yup, it's a midi controller, not an audio interface.

Thanks, I am 100% buying one of these, its the semi dream machine for what I do and want to do, only thing I can say I would have liked to see was dedicated EQ controls with kills as on my mixer ..... but I can just side-chain a bcr2000 and thats that ! And the price is great !

an x/y pad would be nice so I could control filter effects better and a basic sound-card would have been nice too....... not complaining , I can't wait to get one, just verbalizing MY dream machine !!

Thanks Akai , I am sure the build will be stand up, all their shit is !! and thanks Abelton for gettin' yar hands dirty and comin' out with some hardware action !!

On the X/Y tip is there any way to assign my trackpad as an x/y controller ?? Would MAX be able to allow me to do this ?

maybe too early to ask such questions... but will the APCs become a series of controllers?

Any future plans yet?

Robert Henke ansered a similar question (about the number and a bigger model) with some indefinite words that sounded pretty much like "let's see if there is a market for more/other Live controllers".

I wouldn't expect other controllers too soon.

so.. how does it perform with group tracks then?
does it map all the faders to the tracks within the group, or just the master fader for that particular group track?

Surely it will depend on wether the 'group' track is expanded or not, no?
