Is there such thing as a track template?
For certain track types like for recording bass guitar, I always use the same audio effects. Is there a way to save this collection of effects so I do not have to add each one individually?
How about having a startup template with 1 channel that contains your favorite effects and stuff.
Now every time you want to create a channel rather than creating a new one duplicate this one. Leave this first one always empty so that you don't duplicate more than the basic stuff you want.
Bit of a workaround, but works well.

select all effects, group them (ctr/apple G), drag them into the browser, into whichever folder you like, for example into your library, into the folder with audio effect racks.
or save a set containing only your bassguitarchannel somewhere. You can drag this set into any other set, with the result of having your bass guitar channel.

I created a folder called LIVE TEMPLATES and in it I have a bunch of sessions saved with channels set up for different instrument recording. For instance, I have a drum template set which contains a channel for each drum (kick, snare, toms, overheads, etc) and a master bus for the drums. I am then able to create a basic mix with effects, levels, panning etc which is a starting point for our drum recordings. When we're writing/recording, if we want to add a live drum recording, or guitar or whatever, I can go to my templates folder in the live browser and drag a template set in. It's a HUGE time saver.
The one trick to making it work, is that each track has to have a clip on it for you to be able to drag it into live (actually maybe in live7 and later you don't, but I'm still on live 6). The best solution is to load a silent clip into each track in the session view and then deactivate them.
I hope this works for you. This trick is one of the main workflow things I love about Live. You can't do stuff like this in normal DAWs, as far as I'm aware.

I've been assuming this has been implemented in v.8 along with the Track Groups...I hope this is the case. We really should be able to just drag a track (or group of tracks) into our Library to save as a true Track Template. This is something Live needs to catch up on compared to other hosts IMO.

But you can do all that? Just drag whatever you like into the libraryjamester wrote:I've been assuming this has been implemented in v.8 along with the Track Groups...I hope this is the case. This doesn't save as a track template, but as a Live set. And I know they can be merged, but it's not the same thing.pepezabala wrote:But you can do all that?
