Live 4: a question about loops
Hi, i work as a music consultant for the national italian tv.
I was trying to use Live 4 as a "jingle machine" (all .wav files).
I use 2 tracks, the first for the short jingles and the second for the musical beds (with loop).
I have some musical beds that start in a way (with an introduction), and continue with a theme loopable.
So I want to play the music from the start to a point that i want, then to loop back in another point that i want in the middle and so on in an infinite loop.
Is it possible to do that?
- Start point
- End point
- Loop point
The offset point is similar, but at the same time opposite to the use that i need, because i can use offset only in a point between loop section, but i need to use it in a different way...
Until today i used other softwares such as Native Instruments Kontakt that had this choice, but Live seems to me more useful for my work.

I am pretty sure the Simpler has that functionality, but that is assuming that you have version 4 of the software. If you would prefer to do this using clips, I would suggest taking the part you want to play once as an introduction and cut it from the part that you want to loop. Set the intro clip to one shot, and then set the looping part to loop in the clip properties. If you are using version 4, you can automate this stuff without having to draw it into the sequencer; all you do is set the follow action of the intro clip to "next" or whatever it's called, and then that will automatically play the next clip down in the track, which is where you will want the looping part to be.
I know this might sound quite confusing, but just read the manual about the functionality that the Simpler gives you, and read about follow actions, too.
good luck,
- Nick

Maybe is it "Sampler"?
15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

Live's built in sampler is called Simpler. (Read the manual?)
The tips are all right, it can be done.
I just want to add that the idea of a offset in clips that starts before the loop has been raised before. It is a straightforward need, we want a clip to behave in that way without having to chop it up in two or drag it into Simpler.
Adb when the clip is in an audio track, you will have to create a special MIDI track just to have Simpler manage the start offset... it is a waste of space and logic.
