crackling in vista 64bit

Post by DAWO » Thu Jan 29, 2009 8:44 pm

hi there,

i`ve got the problem that live (7.0.14) is crackling like crazy as soon as i move my mouse. i am using other software like reason or orion without any problems. are there any known issues?

crackling does not care about cpu usage. it`s always there.
i had the same problem with live 6 but much stronger. i thought that`s because of incompatability with vista 64. recently updated to live 7 - only slightly better (no matter which 7.x.xx).

thanks a lot!

edit: it only appears when audio is playing but not when sequenzer is running without any midi/audio-event and of course not when it is stopped.

Hi DAWO,
are there any known issues?
It´s hard to tell, Live simply does not support Vista 64 bit officially, so it hasn´t been tested extensively of course. Some users on the forum have managed to run it without major problems. Make sure that you have 64 bit drivers for your audio hardware, check the manufacturer´s sites. I´d recommend to search the forum a bit, you might find helpful threads regarding this, for example this one:

Hi,

nice to know! thanks for your reply.

my soundcard is a rme hdsp9632 wich does support vista 64bit. i did not expect that live is not compatible with vista 64 because there are other sequenzers on the market that already support 64bit. some of them even since more than 1 year.

my other drivers (mobo, gpu) are fully compatible, too. just built my new pc some months ago...

too bad. hopefully live 8 has better support, because i really need more ram - i am running with 88,2 khz and 24 bit.

Hi there. I don't know if the same applies to Vista, but I had the same issue in XP, where it was fixed by turning the hardware acceleration of the graphics card down one notch. (Display properties->Settings->Advanced->Troubleshooting)

Hello,

thanks but in vista is unfortunatly no way to change acceleration by hand.

i will reinstall the ati ccc and search for a possibility.
