Can't wait for 8? Operator upgrade question.

Post by zenmonkey » Tue Feb 03, 2009 6:45 pm

(Apologies in advance if this has been answered elsewhere.)

I just purchased the Can't wait for 8 deal and had a question regarding the upgrade for $59 when 8 is released.

When I look at the product page for Live 8 they show the updates to Operator listed under the Ableton Suite heading and not the Ableton Live heading. Does this mean I'll have to purchase a separate upgrade to the new Operator since I don't own the Suite? I've looked all over the abe's site and did a few forum searches and nothing has come up. I'm interested if there's been mention of this or it's TBA.

Thanks!

I'm assuming that if you already own Operator, you won't have to pay to upgrade it, even if you don't order the whole suite. I think it's there under the suite upgrades because it doesn't come free with the basic Live package (like Simpler and Impulse do, for instance). This seems to be the way Ableton does things. However, you might want to ask support. They usually only take a few days to get back to you.

Thanks keithtalent, that sounds about what I expected. I'll shoot off a note to support and post the reply here for others that may be curious.

Thanks. :)

Hey all,

You got it right. The updates to Operator are contained in Live 8, so once you upgrade you get the "new" Operator too if you already have it in Live 7.

Cheers,
