Guitar Rig 3 Question

Post by jeffeff » Thu Jan 08, 2009 11:56 pm

Hi all,

I'm using multiple instances of the Guitar Rig 3 plug-in for a project I'm working on, and I would like to be able to control parameters within the plug-in with a Keystation 88. I've successfully set it up so that I can turn on and turn off the plug-in by pressing a key on the keyboard, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to change anything inside the plug-in itself. For example, if I had reverb and distortion loaded into my rack in the plug-in and wanted to turn off or on just the distortion, how would I do that? I'm on a Mac.

Many thanks in advance,
Jeff Eff

Ableton Live and Guitar Rig using a controller

Post by tomasgf » Thu Feb 05, 2009 12:18 am

As far as I know, you have to create a MIDI channel, set it up to receive input from the controller and send its output to the Audio Channel using Guitar Rig. There you have to stablish (using the controller set up) which MIDI signal is triggering which change (sound, bank, etc.).

Just my two cents.

^ Yup, that's exactly how you do it. When you set up a midi track with input monitoring (or record) set to ON, the input and output will be as such:

Input - your midi controller
Output - the Track with Guitar Rig in it
Output Submenu - Choose Guitar Rig

Then you basically choose the parameter and right-click and choose Midi Learn, then you wiggle your controller, and it's mapped.

Also, if you are not wanting to change thigns afterwards, just use one instance of guitar rig and set up as many audio channels as you wish to record with the GR channel as your input and render each item as an audio clip, saves CPU.

yes that was the way i used to do it
but somehow after updating to 7.0.14 this way is not working any more.

I have to go to the track that contains Guitar Rig
and than I have to adress the parameters directly via [strg + M]
in the controller window by ableton.
I do not know why the normal way (described by nebulae) is not working any more.
maybe i have conflict between Kore2 and Guitar Rig ?
i have no idea

any tipps ?
Setup: Ableton L12, Push3, Max9, Novation LC,
