Doubt using Behringer UMA25S

(it's my first time writing here and, besides that, English is not my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes that I make)

Hello everybody!

I don't know if this subject has already been discussed, but I didn't find anything about the UMA25S, so I'm writing this one.

Well, I bought a Behringer UMA25S keyboard to use with Ableton Live.

This keyboard has 8 knobs. My problem is:
can I use these 8 knobs to more than 8 functions in Live? In other words: can I use one preset to control 8 "things" in Live and, changing preset on the UMA25S, use those 8 knobs to control 8 OTHER "things" in Live?

Sorry if this is a dumb question: it's my first midi controller.

Sure. Make sure the presets have the knobs set to different midi CC's.
Then map them manually.
So if you map preset 1 to controls on track 1 it will control these, switch to preset 2 (mapped to track 2) & it'll control that, switch to preset XX (mapped to the faders) & you can use it as a mixer...

Well, I'm trying to do that now. I don't understand it very well. It's kind of difficult to configure...

But tell me something, if you know it:
when I use the first knob, its says CC74 - can this knob have another CC value? I mean, if I change present on the keyboard, it will have another CC value?

Presets are set up so you can easilly control different (soft)synths without having to maually map the same controls to different parameters every time you want to ajust something else..
so preset 1 & 2 might only have 1 knob set to a different cc, or even the exact same CCs only in a different order, on the other hand every single control might be different.

I'm not sure how to change presets on the UMA. With the UMX series (which only has the choice of the factory settings & 1 user assignable slot) there's an "Assign" button which you hold while moving the control you want to edit, then you type in the CC# you want that control to send using the keys (that have nr.s printed above them) and then the "enter" key.

If you decide to follow these intstructions, it might be good idea to reset the whole controller by pressing simultaneously
EDIT/EXIT button and MUTE buttons to see in display "Glp" for Global, and then turn the E14 rotary knob to FAC to bring back Factory presets.

I did not assign CC numbers but used the channels:

I did as follows and now I have 8 sets, (and there is 8 waiting to be done) which can be assigned to the different purposes: One for recording, other for mixing, third for playing midi synth, etc...

I

Setting a Channel

1) Set Channel: Press EDIT/EXIT button,

keep it pressed

2) Choose the button of whichs channel you want to change, and press it until the display shows it´s name (E1)?!

3) Choose a channel (Ch 2)?! by rolling the knob E10

4) Press enter

Do the same with all the eight buttons and eight knobs.

This is the place where I got confused many times:

...and move the second part without testing if they work or not. You have to save the freshmade changes as they usually gets erased before they are used.

SAVING THE PRESET

1) Press EDIT/EXIT button

2) Hit the key from the keyboard where is written STORE (#C)

3) Choose the preset to which you want these 16 new channelized buttons to save, by rolling the rotary knob E16: (P1,P2,P3)

4) Enter

Assign all the buttons in session view to the clip slots from 1 to 8 to see if they have new channel number 2/25 or 2/71 in their information box. And when you assign channel 3 and 4,5,6, etc it´s good to place them similarily to the clip slots to have them all in one page to compare if the numbers equals.

It takes 1-3 hours to assign all of them.

I could not figure out easier way to do it

Hello again! Everything is going as explained. I'm assigning all the different channels to the different presets. I found something weird, tough:
I can't assign the E9 button on channel C04. I mean, I do assign it, but Ableton doesn't recognize it. All the other E-buttons are ok. And the same thing happens with channel C05 and C06. But, weird!, with channels C03 and C02, the E9 buttons works fine!

Any clues?
