Impulse pad chop technique video on YouTube

Post by bvl » Mon Jan 07, 2008 4:07 am

Hey, all -

I got inspired tonight while working on programming a new track, and thought I'd do a little video about one of the techniques I use often when programming things in Ableton Live, using the Impulse to chop up pad sounds and transform them. You can check it out here:

Enjoy!

Thanks, Rahlo! Your Ableton videos were definitely in my mind as I worked on it.

I've got a bunch of projects in the works. The track in the video is the last piece of a 5-track EP that I'm finishing up - should be out within the month.

Bill, cool shit. I've done a lot with recording a guitar riff or a bit of chord strumming into a clip, then slice it up for similar Pad Pounding.

Nevermind that. What in the FUCK is there to do over in Ypsilanti, lol? (From GR originally). :) Oh, forgot. Right next to Ann Arbor. Duh.

Checked out your other vids on YouTube as well. Great stuff. Always nice to see ambient at work.

Just a quick update:

I've just released the track that this programming video featured. It's available for digital download via CDBaby; iTunes & other sites will be coming online soon.

Very cool video, thanks for making it (saw this one a while ago and did a video reply). I love seeing other peoples' creative processes as it gives me a lot more perspective on my own habits. Will check out the track, too!
