[jab] GuitarRig 3 - multiple instances of device

Post by TamGig » Fri Jan 23, 2009 8:46 pm

Adding a new parameter to control in guitar rig 3 works fine for the most part.

When you have two instances of the same device, say Skreamer, you can only add the parameter of the first device in the chain or the highest in the case of a split signal.

On that one, I'm realy not sure that there is a solution. Then again, maybe there is.

Hi TamGig,

if you are on Mac: is this a problem with both
the AudioUnit and the VST version of Guitar Rig?

cheers,
Jan

I'm on a Mac and can confirm this happens with both the AU and VST versions of Guitar Rig 3.

It was on AU. I simply don't have the VST version installed. Thanks sparklepuff for answering that one.

Actually I'm fairly sure this is to do with the way Guitar Rig maps automation parameters. (that is, not Ableton's fault - it can't map parameters that don't exist!)
Open up the big view of 128 parameters in Version 7, and you will see one parameter per control per device.

poorsod is right. I tried it in Live 7, same thing. So I opened it inside Kore, threw 2 of the same devices in a rack, and trying to assign Kore's knobs to the second of the 2 devices won't work. So it's not even if a control on the first device already mapped, you just simply can't map any of the controls on a duplicate device.

NI Fail.
