Rewire Limitations (Ableton slave to Cubase 4) Question

hi guys,

I really want to use the audio effects in Ableton Live when I rewire it as a slave to Cubase 4 as the host.

I have always enjoyed the sounds of the Ableton Live effects and was wondering if there was a way for me
to send the audio tracks in Cubase 4 out to the Ableton Live effects, and then back in to Cubase 4.

I know this might seem very time consuming to do, but there must be an easier way around this, right?

Perhaps there must be another solution, other than:

1) Export Audio from Cubase
2) Import Audio to Ableton Live
3) Record dry signal with Ableton effects
4) Re-import back into Cubase


Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

no, everyone's wondering why when given the choice you're using cubase as the host rather than ableton.

Rewire is midi communication not audio. You need something like 'Jack' which I think is now also available for Windows. Better still, ditch Cubase.

There really is no "good" way to do this other than the list you created above. Honestly the only functionality of rewiring Ableton as slave into cubase would be if you were writing songs in Cubase and occasionally had sequences/loops made within ableton that you wanted to appear in your cubase mix....rewire gives you a channel for them to play through. but you're not going to get ableton's FX on cubase channels, nor for that matter any of live's awesome functionality applied to your *cubase* channels.

i was in your situation a while back. solution? i ditched cubase. i've never, ever looked back. what is it doing for you that you can't do in ableton? its effects are weak compared to live (and sooooo much harder to use, even for basic shit). the sequencer is basic oldschool stuff. the Mixer, well ok, it's much better, but i finally realized that sticking around in cubase just for the decent mixer wasn't helping me any.

i also find plugin management to be more of a chore in cubase.....
