[amo] [8b8] Mixers not visible in Session view

Post by posssu » Mon Feb 09, 2009 6:52 pm

Can you guys replicate this? It's session view with zoom on. The mixer button is enabled, but greyed out. They appear when I minimize the Detail-view, but there's plenty of space there now too and I can't make them appear. The control that should allow me to control the space taken by session clip slots isn't at the bottom when the mixers aren't visible.

It should be possible to take space from the session slots and make mixer appear with Detail view on too.

I see what you mean about the Mixer section disappearing and the Mixer button going gray, at a certain large level of zoom, but if I zoom back out, the mixer reappears. I guess the Clip Grid trumps the Mixer section, when the view runs out of room at a high zoom level. Fwiw, all of the Mixer Section selector buttons are visible on my screen, even at 200% zoom.

At all levels of zoom, on my system, the line between the mixer and the Detail View is always there, and I can drag that line down to close the Detail View or make it reappear. Or use Ctrl-Alt-L, the toggle for the Detail View.

This is a pretty good argument for making the zoom separate for each of the Views (if that's even possible with the zoom engine used in Live). We might want the Clip Grid zoomed out, if we have a large number of Clips and Tracks, but still have the Detail View zoomed in for easily working with Device settings (or whatever).

Hi! Thanks for replying! You got me wrong about the handle, I mean the handle that you can use to adjust the relationship between the height of the mixers and space available for clips above it. This doesn't seem to be accessible when the mixers are gone, but they should be because I could use them take space from the clips and bring the mixers back up. (at least I should be able to do this)

Ah. Thanks for the clarification. Let me see if I'm understanding you. Yes, I see that the line between the Stop Clips button and the Sends section is not available to pull up/down at a certain level of zoom. But one thing I noticed is that in your graphic, the Sends section is still visible. You could fold away this section with Ctrl-Alt-S and free up more room for the Clip Grid.

I see that if I use Ctrl-Alt-S and Ctrl-Alt-M to fold away the Sends and Mixer sections, the only thing remaining is the row of Stop buttons and the Stop Clips button in the Master section. I know it doesn't address your issue of the line not being available to pull up/down, but it does free up as much space as possible for the Clip Grid... sorry if this is annoying, but I'm just trying stuff and I tend to look for workarounds. :)

Hi!

It's not annoying at all. But I'm not trying to get room for clip grid, I'm trying to make their space smaller so that I could get the mixers visible. That's why I need the handle that when I disable everything else (sends etc), I should be able to pull up the mixers and take space AWAY from the clip grid, but I can't do this since the handle isn't there.

Got ya. Sometimes it takes a lot of explanation to penetrate my thick skull. But the main consideration here is not me, but the Abes. Hopefully they see what you mean.

Hi,

This can happen if there is not enough room to display the mixer, i.e. if you resize the clip detail view and there is no space. From your screenshot, it doesn't look like it's the case, but it's hard to tell. In what conditions do you get to that state exactly?

Tried with b16 and couldn't duplicate what I have in the screenshot. I'll post if I get it again.

Hi,

I moved the thread then. Please open a new one if you have the same problem again, which I doubt.
