You'll have to pay for a host and register your domain. Make sure the host runs PHP5 and SQL server. Then you can easily install Wordpress into your host and go from there. It's easier than it sounds.

I use webmasters.com for my host and godaddy for my domain registrar.

I've looked at a bunch of them. Most of the freebies use php or xml and they all use a flash player. The problem is that most can be hacked and by looking at the code, you can find your actual mp3 files.

I use Flamplayer, which uses a database to create playlists, so I can hide my mp3 files - it's a bit harder to find the actual files, which means I can stream mp3 files at really high quality and not worry (as much) about people just grabbing the files. Of course, nothing is foolproof.

Actually I don't how fancy you can get with either.

Depends on what you need, iWeb is fine for small personal websites though I don't think it is as polished or feature rich for blogging as WordPress is.

If you've got a Mobile Me account I'd at least give iWeb a go, especially if you want to put pictures on your website as the integration with iPhoto and other stuff is good.

Cool. I still have no fricken clue what I want to do with my site or why the hell anybody would want to go there, but I'm looking for something that's really easy to use for design and updating.

"Sort of but not really." Go to http://support.wordpress.com/ and check it out. It's not really "hosted" the way you normally think of it. Basically I think of it as "an enhanced free blog" if that makes any sense.

beats me: .if you're not sure about all this, you might want to start with a free blog/website at wordpress.com, mess around with that for a few months, play with CSS, etc., and if it lights your fire, then you can take the next step, find a host, get the wordpress.org software and build a real website (I'm sure nebulae will help you

Oh yeah, wordpress.org big-time. And it gets better all the time and quickly too.

The .org (your own server) isn't that hard and you'll learn stuff you need to know
or will be glad to know when you're done. imho

I just re-theme'd my site in a few minutes with an hour of tweaking. Done.
