I've sold so much gear I can hardly remember it all.... Moog Source, AKG BX20 spring reverb, Drawmer mic pres, (2) AKG 414s, a sitar, about 10 guitars, Juno 106, Mackie mixer, Yamaha NS-10 speakers (god I hated those)....

I don't miss this stuff at all, and I'm more prolific now than I was when I owned the gear... Too much stuff can interfere with your process.. You need to work the way that you want to work, not the way that your friends, Mix magazine, Electronic Musician, Sweetwater, Musiciansfriend, etc., tell you to work!

Sell your gear and learn to whistle if that's what it takes to make your masterpiece!!

Next on the chopping block, once the economy improves... my '65 SG Jr., and my '75 Dobro Rose! I'll buy some surfboards instead - now that's inspiration!

Edit - I just remembered Angus played my SG, I have it on video tape! No matter...

Perhaps I shouldn't mention my old 1/2" Otari 4 track and the 1/4" Scully 2 track... Those went straight to the garbage a few weeks ago! Was kind of on the fence about the Scully because the pres are pretty sweet, but again.. I don't need it and I couldn't find it a good home!

And my 1970s Hiwatt half-stack.. sold that one last year. Just too darn big and LOUD.

1970 stylophone - technically not 'sold' as such….. more 'butchered' and 'broken' along with many action men and Tonka toys.

Electroharmonix Electric Mistress (Swapped for a shitty 100 watt combo - Fecking carlsboro ffs  just to do a gig with the UK Subs :D (was a good gig tho)

Westone Thunder Jet (with black chrome metal bits and a coil tap on humbuckers) - SOLD (Money for kids shoes)- (along with 20 watt marshall micro-stack  (Played that at the gig with the Subs too)

Orig Jim Dunlop Cry baby (sold for a night out i think, great night, usually were i seem to remember)

Too many Boss peddles to mention bought from good ole Duck Son and Pinker that could be put to some use now..

Hammond spring reverb and two massive peavey speaker cabs from the frickin 60's that i drunkenly sold to get more inebriated one weekend in he 80's.

Like Forge said, I'd not have sold any of it given a second chance.

Foolish youth.

On the positive side though.....At least I'm not a hoarder....
.... and don't have to be on one of those 'How Clean is Your Studio' reality TV shows.

One Marshall JCM900 with cabinet newly re-tubed for less than...300.00 US dollars. 8O
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and that empty filling creeps up on me.
All because of a July fourth celebration and a little bit o weed.
Still not as bad as a former band mate who ripped me for a few thousand dollars worth of analog gear. Can't do much about it, but he pisses in a colostomy bag now, Karma.

this thread is making me sick.

don't sell anything, just put it in the closet, or make a nother set up in another corner of the room, you don't have to touch it if you don't want to

.
similar happened to me

for me the problem was "I'm into electronic music now, I hardly play any more"

hindsight is a wonderful thing

selling my precious synth soon. Not because I don't want to be all collector-like and hoard shit... I really do. But I need a minimal life, less shit. So she will go.
