Here are a few pics of my new setup. Still in the middle of getting everything together, mostly just need alot more cables to get it all connected.

Out of intrest, folks with hardware synths, how do you patch them into live?

I have a nord lead, evolver and electribe going into an old DJ mixer then straight into my audio interface.

Suddenly dawned on me the mixer might be a really shitty link, vestax PCV275 so a nice mixer when I got it, but soooo old and not pro audio/studio gear at all.

Also do you run them through other outboard, compressors, effects etc?

I love the hands on of the nord and electribe and the crazyness of the evolver, but they never sound quite as upfront and useable as software like reaktor, massive or arturias minimoog.

I just have mine going straight into my motu 828. I used to have a DI box. I need to get a new one that's the best way to put them into your interface. no hum or anything.

@ cbentley...: That's what i call a pro - hardware statement. Very nice setup.
Hardware is the new software. You should get yourself a proper 30" monitor though...:-)

 19 inch monitor. Have had it for a few years and never really felt the need for a larger screen yet. And no... I don't own a Bentley although you'd think they would just give me one for having the same last name eh?

People are all so different. I get far more use out of the outboard. Partially because it's phat analog, which translates to a great starting point in a song IMO, and partially because outboard gear has very noticable strengths, IE the Moog does bass far better than any of my software, and the Wretch does distorted wailing noise like no other.
I try to keep the outboard stuff as unprocessed as possible, otherwise why not just start in all software?? The point of outboard to me personally is that the basic oscillator sound is huge, so I want it to shine through.
I'm not sure what to say in relation to the Evolver though?? That thing is awesome IMO. I was able pick up a Poly Evolver, and I like it a lot.

Though you also named three really really great pieces of software. :)

Until I'm ready to commit everything to audio, I monitor my outboard synths through a mixer combined with any audio tracks from the sequencer. Once I've got everything how I like it, I'll print the hardware stuff to audio tracks bypassing my mixer and using a premp straight into the a/d converter. I usually save comression, eq, and effects for mixing once I have everything tracked unless it's a specific part of what I'm tracking.
