Feeling overwhelmed by live 8

Post by Grappadura » Sat Feb 14, 2009 11:21 am

I´m beta testing it for just a couple of hours now. So far, I´m loving the sounds you can get out of every new feature. I´m randomly throwing the new stuff into the midi tracks and after 2 or 3 twists I come up with wicked, gorgeous sounds. Its almost too much! I don´t need to tweak a lot at all! Its almost boring. Weird. I feel like I need to breathe. Gimme a break! 8O

i think it's the case of everything that is new and unfamiliar. happens to me too when browsing through sounds of a new plugin. i often get to sketch up some good sounding stuff on the tryout ..

but yes, some goodness there in the big 8 !

now that you mention it, yes its true, new stuff always sounds good at the beginning. Something I really like about the operator presets right now (that might change later) that they´re all just operator, and not a rack with lots of effects, and the fact that the presets still sound great! well, thats just one point out of many.

I also dig collision big time, and I always loved marimba-sounds.

oh just to clarify, it's not necessarily a subjective feeling. the stuff do come out fresh on the beta testing !! just make sure you push record before ;)

Just to clarify this: I didn´t mean I wouldn´t like the presets later anymore, I meant it might change the fact that the operator presets are not racked up with tons of effects.

Now that the presets under the instrument name are raw (no fx), I figured there might be less presets overall... but then I opened every folder in 'Instrument Racks' and by averaging presets per 1 mouse scroll, and counting how many scrolls it averaged out to be 1,200 presets just in that folder.

So if you add up instrument presets with fx and raw instrument presets, you're looking at something like 2,400 instrument presets. Damn! 8O

Collision spits out some beautiful low frequencies....so does Tension....
all the new devices bring freshness to the current selection...
loving the MultiBand and freqShifter...and Overdrive....and Vocoder....yummy...
'grooves' is a little flawed....but it's still way better than the old 'swing'...
transient detection rocks...
Operator8...
zoom...
and all this is before M4L...!!!
