recording while hearing an audio track in realtime?

say i recorded a drum beat from my synth into ableton. now i want to play a pad but i also want to hear the drum beat i recorded into ableton while i play the pad. when i try to do this all i get is alot of feedback.

please write *exactly* how your keyboard is wired to live, what soundcard, system, all that.

soundblaster audigy 2 platinum zs synth goes from L/Mono output on the synth to Line In 2/Mic In 2 on the face of the soundcard. Live 4.0.4.

hmm, i can't figure out where the feedback is created. Do you have any resampling tracks set up? Do you send audio back to your synth?
