Transport... always returns to beginning

My transport/curser always returns to zero bars when song is stopped. On a Mac, what is the trick to getting the song to play exactly where you stopped it?

Also how do you quickly create a loop within a song?

Hold down shift when you press play and the transport will pick up from wherever you stopped it last. If you want to loop part of a song, enable looping in the tool bar and then drag the loop markers to where you need them.
