Why not pay for it? I mean, I used the demo, and I could do everything minus save my project. So, unlike many demos of programs Live gives you a chance to get your feet wet a bit. Feel the program out. Hell, I bought it. And I don't regret it either

Same here. I donwloaded the Live demo and worked through the turotials, paid for it the same day.
I used to run cubase but I've not touched it since I got hold of Live!

I'll be honest. I used a crack to test it out. But I own it now.

In all honesty, I used a cracked version of live. In fact I cracked my own version by hand. But I purchased live because of the attitude that people at Ableton have and the fact that I always promised myself, the moment I make any cash from music.. I'll pay for the software I use. I now own Pro Tools (through the hardware) Ableton Live, soon I will start using Fruity Loops again and pay for that too.
To be honest, I think the whole piracy thing is more about education. My first dealings with computers were in Iran when I went there for 2 years and over there, they have massive archives of programs which you just pay for per mb of transfer they do.. this was my education with software. Most people when they get their feet wet with computers dont know what to buy and end up being given a bunch of programs for free by their mate to start off with and that's their introduction in how to obtain software.
Then you have the teenagers who would have to first have money to buy a computer or their folks to buy it, then they have to fork out $$ for a sound card and then more $$ for software then softsynths and samples etc and you know that all you have to do to get that cool sound in the latest softsynth out there you just have to download some tiny patch.. you kinda know what's gonna happen there dont you.
Anyway i confessed and now im ranting, but that's my opinion.

Yes, I too!
And the first time after running it for a month about and trying to start Live at a gig and got the "A copy protection violation has been bla bla" window I decided that the time has come to buy it.

I got my copy free from Ableton.
They gave me verison 3 six or seven months ago, and version 4 came out soon afterward. It took the Ableton Rep so long to get me the codes for version 4 that I ALMOST paid for it.
I've sold enough copies and spread the gospel so much that I feel that it was a worthwhile deal for Ableton.
In the future, when I move on to an exciting career in toaster sales, I'll shell out the cash for new versions. Ableton is the shit!

What kind of connects do you have in the toaster biz?
I got one of these off limewire but have been unable to get the codes for it. Any chance you could help?

I had the crack for around two months. By that time I was a self professed expert at the program!!
I was earning a LOT of money for my age, so I figured I would buy it legitimately. Live 4 was a stretch for my budget, but I wanted it so bad!

It's codes you need? No problem. For $399 I can get you codes, a nifty looking box, and a clear conscience.
Good day to you sir.

I personally see no problem in using a cracked version of software to test its true capabilities before shelling out some serious cash. Although with Live the demo was so open already this was not required. Thanks Ableton!

Yes but even you have to admit that $399 is a bit steep for a toaster.
