I believe with Max for Live.
thanks for your speed!
the real question is, does the live API will be accessible without max for live?

Dom is right here:

((110 buttons - 1 crossfader + 9 faders) /2 footswitch ports) - 17 encoders = 42.

Another question :

Will it be possible, with max4live, to change the way the buttons display coulours? For example : orange for clip location, and alternate green an red rows for playing clips?

Why? I am very used to that with my monome (it has two coulours), and it really helps for visual feedback.

Alright. So Max for Live allows us to use the APC as various things.
How easily can you switch between modes?
For example, I have the APC in Default mode and I have a step sequencer running in Live. How long does it take to switch between device modes?

If I'm not mistaken, it was said that the messages in the APC are hardwired. So how does Live ignore anything coming out of the APC and how do you make the step sequencer listen?

I exactly want to know about that.
how could we customize the beast ?
is the live API available easily ?

are the apc features hardcoded or available through API ?

one of my fear: the multifunction buttons/encoders.
1/ I don't want to learn and overload my head with all these infos (what is behind this or that pots?)
2/ I'm afraid I'd miss to have all my pots under my eyes/fingers (I want to touch the delay on that track, and to touch the cutoff of another track ... how can I do that easily and intuitively with apc? I'm afraid it is impossible ... for me!)

really, I'd like to build my big deck... I'd be more sure about customizing :)

PLEASE build a simple and cheap midicontroller with a 6x8(or something) button matrix grid and 4(or more) banks.

I really don't need(or can bring with me) a big Apc40. I just want a matrix grid to lounch clips. Please make one!

would be great, or with a bigger matrix like 16(+1 for scene launch)x8 + buttons for solo ,mute and stop button.
i think a lot of guys don`t really need faders, knobs and so on.

yeah most of us are covred with faders and encoders already. Myself i have a Faderfox Lv-2 and it suits me perfectly. It automaps so i don't need a lot of knobs. It has me covred with everything. When i need drumpads i have my nanopad. When i need keys a have my nanokey or my oxygen. Depends on how mutch i want to carry with me. The only thing missing is a really nice and portable matrix grid for clip triggering. I am borrowing a monome 128 from my laptopmusic teacher now and it is so perfect. But waaaaay to expensive. Plus he waited 2 years to get one.

PLEASE make a portable resonable prised matrix grix for clip triggering!

Why not go with the iTouch midi? Turns your ipod touch into a wireless (!) grid midi controller.

Last I looked, the full versions were $5 in the iTunes app store. Worth considering.
