I have this exact same problembosonHavoc wrote:this is really kicking my ass
i've tested the mpd's with other cable's
and i borrowed my buddies axiom which has 2 midi port and that worked fine
i think i'm going to go to the apple store on sunday
here is a screen shot of what my issue seems to be
notice it only shows port 3 and what would be port 1 is selected.
it should say port 1, port 2, port 3
if any one has an mpd and osx 10.5.6 if you could let me know if yours looks like this.
i havn't made any music in 2 days :/
sometimes i wish i was a hippie ... naaaaaaaaaa
os x 10.5.6 and akai MPD (new mpd32/mpk drivers up)

Re: anyone have os x 10.5.6 and akai MPD
major rockness!!!
i fired up the mac book profor pracrtice and noticed my midi i/o's for my mpd's were grayed out.
i went to reassign them and i see mpd24(port 1) mpd24 (port 2).......
abelton fixed it in either live 8b14 or 8b15
hells ya... i'm back in full operational mode..
i guess its a good thing i've been to broke to buy a midi interface lol

Re: os x 10.5.6 and akai MPD (fixed in live 8 beta)
akai just put up a firmware update for the mpd32 and (i think) the mpk
the midi port is fixed with this update... not sure what else they fixed with the new firmware.
but they didn't update the firmware for the mpd24 yet... hopefully soon

Great to see an update for the MPD32. Has anybody actually installed it yet?

i have an mpd24 and it works fine in live 8, no firmware upgrade necessary (although i was already on 1.10, and that didnt work under live 7)

Re: os x 10.5.6 and akai MPD (fixed in live 8 beta)
i've installed the 1.3 firmware update. the unit now saves all global settings... finally!
the port naming bug is still there, although as i understand it, that is more a problem with os x 10.5 than the MPD32... apparently the beta of Live 8 fixes the problem with Live not remembering the MPD32 prefs. that's going to be an expensive fix, though! (i wouldn't upgrade to 8 yet otherwise, but if it fixes that bug, i just might..)
i'm just very happy not to have to change the global setttings of my MPD every time i power it up.

Re: os x 10.5.6 and akai MPD (fixed in live 8 beta)
did you remove the mpd32, delete the device from audio/midi setup then plug the mpd32 back in?
if not try that because when i did that all the midi ports showed up as they should in audio midi set up.
as far as the mp24 goes... they have not uploaded the update for the firmware and tech support said he would let me know anything he finds out about it.
the mpd24 midi port will show up in the current live 8 betas
but in live 7 you only get to use 1 midi port.
