^ wow, that's interesting, dude, thanks for the education. So you're basically saying that there's not a lot of difference. What about RME, what do they use?

I really liked the Virus, but at $2800 I just couldn't justify the purchase.

The Prophet, and one soft synth (Alchemy) are all I'm using. Streamlining is a beautiful thing.

...gonna get one fo SHO...

no clue. crack yours open, take a picture. the game changes from year to year, it's been great to see the 120dB barrier broken, but that's still 24 dB short of perfect.

+1 I really like neb's stuff as well.

xh9o, gotta say...trashing on anyone's music around here is just not cool. It may not be your cup of tea, but getting just plain mean about it is wrong. Do what you want, but I fail to see how or why you had to go that route.
:?
Thanks for saying that...I totally agree...as much as we banter and screw around, even with people we don't like, I think there is a line no one has crossed, and that's trashing people's music. But again, it's all good - he was more fun than hurtful...

+1 for streamlining - the less you have, the better you'll get with what you have!

I say use as little or as many bits of gear as you want. Everything in the computer, all operator, or maybe 1000 vst's. A room full of $20k worth of synths or only 1 single synth. Just go with your gut :)

I've got quite a bit of hardware but my last 2 tracks were entirely operator. Just depends on what's interesting me at that moment.

this stuff turned out pretty different, slow groovy stuff, kinda introverted sounding. intended to be played loud over a good system :) which is what I'm hoping to do sometime soon.

i'm having a very hard time not purchasing a mopho right now :) i'd really like a prophet 08, but i'd prolly have to give up the apc and live 8 and m4l for at least a year if i whined enuff to the better half to let me buy the prophet right now... sooooo pretty <wipes drool from chinny chin chin>but dammit, i want live 8 NOW! and the beta will die eventually  stupid home improvements  eh fuck it... i'll just get the silly mopho, and try to be happy with it, and the apc and live8 and m4l. it'll be hard, i know, but i think i can make it work.

yep, just ordered the mopho (and pre-ordered apc) 8) hey, just doin my part to stimulate the economy!

you have chosen wisely.

in my mind the only answer to the question "should I buy this?" is "yes, as long as I can still afford some beer too"
